"Like I said, nothing was intentional. Hopefully he’s OK," Butler said. "Definitely whenever you can take a shot on the quarterback, you’re going to take it. That’s what I did."

Uhhh he said what?? The News Tribune quoting Butler on his hit on KP

Both CRN and Prince

Were pretty gracious in their comments on the hit after wards. I thought CRN’s comment was interesting especially given how much vitriol has been directed towards him in recent years for being arrogant from his early days of coaching.

I don't think it was intentional

It was a dirty hit because he hit Prince with the crown of the helmet, but with everything at fullspeed and Prince half going down, it’s tough on the defender. When Prince was down, I saw Butler taking a lot of looks over there and I think he was genuinely concerned. A bad hit, yes, but I’m not too upset with Butler and I don’t have any reason to believe he’s a bad guy or dirty player.

Ya... the heat of the moment

The rule while I played is if a QB is going down, you don’t touch him. Good way to save yards, IMO it was a mental lapse, as opposed to a genuine motivated shot

I felt is was helmet to helmet and should have been called.

But, I didn’t think it was a dirty hit. It wasn’t like Thugaluga’s hit on St. Patrick where it was not only helmet to helmet, it was late.

This one looked like it was too late to pull up and the helmet incidental.

Just my 2 cents.

I wasn't upset with the helmet to helmet aspect

When the runner lowers his head, it’s tough to do much else, but it was the fact that Butler used the crown of his helmet that made it dirty IMO. They did call a penalty on it though for helmet to helmet contact though.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

Here is my take on that awesome hit on our quarterback. Having played the game on both sides of the ball, putting a hit like that is your goal and gives you a big boost in emotion for you and your teammates, not to mention the crowd. Don’t get me wrong, i don’t agree with any cheap shot. For some of you in the “Bruin Nation” that have seen or talked to me.( I am the guy who wears the hat and the #1 bruin fan license plate, and sit above the Bruins tunnel. I was almost born at the that dump where $uc plays 43yrs. ago) I am hardcore. I can’t imagine anything else. That hit took place right in front of us, and there was nothing cheap about the hit. Here is the reason why. Basic quarterback, and coaching would have solved this problem. And it is a big problem. This comment may offend some of you, “but”. Prince got what he DESERVED! And he is lucking to be walking today. The rules are in place to protect the quarterbacks and the coaching staff should be held responsible for the hit he took. The quarterback coach(first), offensive co.(second), and Coach Nue.(third). Quarterback 101 tells us that the quarterback should “SLIDE” FEET FIRST WHEN HE RUNS THE BALL AT ANYTIME OUT OF THE BACKFIELD. END OF STORY. He has done this all year and i have been yelling at the games and at the television . And nobody has heard my pleas. All comments about this subject should stop at the end of this sentence. Thank you for hearing my plea for better coaching and less apologies at the podium.
