"That just gets our confidence going, once we start hitting in the beginning," said Lee, who led all scorers with 20 points. "Especially for a young team like us, we need that to happen. Our easy buckets and our easy shots came from our defense, though. We were making them force bad shots, and we were getting on the boards, getting into the fast break."

agreed
I think it’s also worth pointing out that it’s not just layups etc that we get from this. Our ball movement and creation of open jump shots improves massively when the opposition don’t have time to set their defense and are slightly off-balance.
hopeful
That even though we beat NMST.. to Play the way we did was very encouraging. This team offers much more potential when they run the floor. A nice first step.. Let’s see if we can build off this in South Bend. Go Bruins!

I think the best thing was more PT for the young guys
We had 4 freshmen close out the game last night. With a huge lead they can get game PT without any pressure.
Anything that helps their confidence is good, in my opinion
All these guys were great players in junior high and high school, and were confident that somehow they would be able to make a play when it was needed to win the game. They wanted the ball and wanted to have that chance. Their confidence got slammed pretty hard this year. I hope that this massacre of NM State will boost that confidence back up. I also like the highlighted quote by Lee, who pointed out that the points came off defense.
