Around SBN: Nevin Shapiro Vows To Bring Down Miami

Congrats to Brian and Kai. They are Bruin All Americans. To no one's surprise, Brian Price and Kai Forbath were named to the AFCA Coaches' All-American list for the 2009 football season. Only Alabama (4) and Texas (3) have more honorees than UCLA on this year's list. UCLA and Georgia are tied with two honorees. Stanford is the only other Pac-10 school with a student-athlete being honored by the AFCA (Toby Gerhart).

More details on the official site. Join us in congratulating Brian and Kai in this thread.

GO BRUINS.

Brian Price

was an absolute animal this year. He was a lot of fun to watch. I hope he has a fantastic career in the NFL (and I selfishly hope he stays one more year!).

Anyone thinking about staying a year

just needs to look at what happened to Taylor Mays!!!

Congratulations Forbath and Price!!

Here’s to Price being our first first round draft pick since Robert Thomas!

Wow

Of course. I can’t believe I forgot about Marcedes. I just thought back to MJD being taken second round and mistakenly thought no Bruin could have gone before him in the first… 32 teams passed on him as he likes to remind with his number.

My bad!

BTW

Georgia has only one on the list – Drew Butler, our punter. How dare you confuse a Georgia Tech player with a Georgia player! ;)

On that note....

Congrats to BP and Kai. BP’s as good as gone, but I wonder if Kai will give any thoughts to jumping as well – kickers typically don’t go early, but he’s as good as anyone in college. Here’s hoping he sticks around.

IIRC

I remember reading a report that Kai will def. explore options like ATV did last year.

Price and Kai

Grats gents!! Goodluck on the next level Price!

If Kai leaves

at least CRN can recruit kickers by showing them how often they will get to shine in our FG-oriented offense… :-)

I will laugh

If anyone (HS, college, pro) can pull off winning games consistently by kicking FG’s exclusively. Purely as a gimmick, of course. I wonder if it would be an interesting thought exercise to come up with a game plan centered around FG’s (cf, KD, haha j/k).

Blue and gold are All American colors, but ketchup and mustard aren't

To consider what an accomplishment this is, think of all the high-caliber players who didn’t make the list of All Americas (for example, imagine the logjam for the quarterback spot alone). It’s also fun to note that there’s not a single toejam on the list.

Congratulations

And hopefully more honors for our guys will be forthcoming in the future.

HOORAY!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS – Brian and Kai!! You both are so deserving of this honor. What an honor for them and for our school!! GO BRUINS!! GO UCLA!!!!

I would LOVE

to see Brian Price compete against Ndamukong Suh (even though they play on the same side of the ball). Suh has more nfl scouts drooling right now, but I have a feeling that will change once Price gets in front of them. It’s going to be amazing when BP obliterates every SUC o-lineman in the nfl.
And Kai is simply amazing. I didn’t think it was possible for anyone to fill in Medlock’s shoes, but wow! I hope he sticks around another year unless the Raiders are willing to draft him in the first round, lol. But really, he doesn’t have much to lose by coming back, and can just help the team even more, while training Kip to take over in 2011.
