The Hypocrisy
In 2006, during the basketball season, Bob Knight choked Michael Prince, during a game. I've tried to find the video this morning and have come up empty and what I remember about the incident was that Knight laid his hands on an athlete in what many deemed to be an inappropriate manner. You had that incident on television and you had the entire world watching. Knight and Myers were close friends, and the only reason that Knight came to Texas Tech was because of the close relationship between the two. I do not believe that it was ever reported that Bob Knight was asked to apologize, nor do I remember Knight being asked to sign a document to acknowledge his mistreatment of players. Bringing this up isn't to debate what Knight did to Prince during that game, what I'm curious about is whether the parties were treated fairly.
This is perhaps the biggest issue that I have with the entire incident is what appears to be the unequal treatment of those coaches who were friends with Myers and those who were not.

It's a totally different issue.
Knight never choked anyone who’s dad was a blowhard at espn. And he never choked anyone who knows more about violating ncaa rules than daddy James does.
some interesting comments about Adam James:
“Adam was a kid that seemed like he had been given everything he wanted his whole life and acted like if things did not go exactly how he wanted someone was treating him unfairly or someone needed to be blamed for his failures. He was a selfish player on and off the field that was counter-productive for our team and would be for any other team,” former Tech QB Graham Harrell said in his email.

From what I've read/heard/seen...
…this Adam James kid is a complete jackass. As one would expect with a blowhard WWL “analyst” for a father, he sounds like a petulant child. I hope someone lays the little prick out with a good shot during a game. I’d wait until he made it to the NFL, but the guy doesn’t have the talent for that, so once he flames out after college, I wonder who he’ll blame next.
I hate to say it, but I agree with Lou Holtz. It just seems really odd that Leach has been a coach for a decade or more and there has never been so much as a single allegation of him physically mistreating a player. Yes, he’s said some stupid stuff in the press, but there’s a huge gap between boneheaded comments and physically mistreating a student-athlete.
This James kid is full of s**t and when Texas Tech goes back to being another piece of s**t program that serves as nothing more than a guaranteed win for the Longhorns and Sooners, I’ll laugh at James and every a**hole at TTU who axed Leach over a garbage allegation by a childish garbage poser “football player.”
Didn't We Also Have One Of James' Kids?
I don’t remember his name, but I’m pretty sure we did, and I don’t remember any drama or sense of entitlement regarding him.
edsbs has a link to a thread of emails
between TT Athletic Department officials and their lawyer. It sounds like they were planning on firing him ever since last year’s contract negotiations. They also make some good points about Leach’s track record that puts him in a negative light.
It’s all coming across as a really bad divorce with much venom being spit across the aisle.

I don't think it was their lawyer
I think this guy Sowell is a big donor. Apparently he gives so much money that the administration at Texas Tech lets him call the shots.
The OP has corrected this item as his original info was wrong
I remember the incident. Coach Knight did not choke a player. The player was looking down while Knight was talking to him, and Knight gave the player an upwards smack to the chin to lift the player’s head. Probably wasn’t an appropriate action, and he did catch a decent amount of heat for it, but nowhere near a choke.
