Saturday Late Night Overflow Thread: Go Badgers Open Thread
We don't have to explain at this point on why we are rooting for Bucky and his Wisconsin Badgers. What an exciting Saturday in Bruins Nation. Since our last thread got filled up, thought we start a brand new one so that we can focus on cheering on Wisconsin (at least those who will stay up out in West Coast and/or procrastinating over their finals).
Again, if the Badgers beat Hawaii Warriors, that will all but guarantee a bowl appearance for our Bruins. The game is on ESPN 2 right now and you can also keep track of the box score here. Also, our SBN colleagues from Wisconsin are following the game at Bucky's 5th Quarter over here.
Let's end it on a great note with a W for Wisconsin in Hawaii. Mahalo.
GO BRUINS.

I just think it's nice
That I’m not longer talking about 22 guys running around in short shorts or 14 guys in speedos. At least it’s 12 girls in shorts now. Too bad UCLA has no video.

I was at the 82 game in my Bruin Yell Leader's sweater.
I was teaching at the Law School.
At the end of the game, one of the Badger kids came up to me and said
“You know how to play football. We know how to party.” So true
Camp Randall Stadium is one of the great college fields.

Comparative analysis
between a few styles of music, I am currently in master’s school at CSULB as a jazz musician. Not a very heavy paper, which is why it is not getting much cerebral capacity. : )
great program where?
I got my bachelors at UCLA in Ethnomusicology. I am pursuing a double masters in Jazz Studies and Music Education now at CSULB. Working toward university professor and professional musician. I play the saxes, clarinet, and flute.
Yeah
My point of pride right now is that we beat u$c* at the Monterrey Next Generation festival last year. The band is really one of the bests in the country right now.
Fellow musician here
What’s your main axe, sponkey? We probably know some of the same people. I’m a mostly-bari player with the usual doubles.
GO BRUINS!!!
I am mainly tenor
I play a decent amount of alto. Don’t gig much around, but am starting to. I have been immersed in the academic scene and am just starting to get out to jam sessions and try to network.
Kinda random
But did you live in rieber 04-05 school year? Had a guy on my floor that would be same year as you tand he played sax and was majoring in ethno.
Nope
that year I was actually at Fullerton College. My first year at UCLA was 06-07. I might know that guy though, do you remember the name?
umm
Mike something. Blanking on his last name, haven’t seen him since that year. I remember he played ultimate frisbee too?
haha
I am a Mike something, but not the one you are talking about.
Apparently still one of my friends on facebook
Guess he switched over to music from ethno, so no luck there.
Yeah, probably not probable.
I didn’t know a lot of the classical music majors at UCLA. I was only there 2 years, and was mainly in the Jazz program. I still might know them if they were in any of the jazz bands during my time there.

Wow did Charlie Weiss just call out Petey out for living with a grad student?
Anyone know anything more about this?
Q: Is it frustrating to you Pete Carroll, for example, portrayed in one way…
CW: Let me ask you this question: You guys know about things that go on in different places. Was I living with a grad student in Malibu, or was I living with my wife in my house? You could bet that if I were living with a grad student here in South Bend, it would be national news. He’s doing it in Malibu and it’s not national news. What’s the difference? I don’t understand. Why is it okay for one guy to do things like that, but for me, I’m scrutinized when I swear. I’m sorry for swearing; absolve my sins.

Is like the catchiest looped tune I have ever heard. IT’S MADDENING!

Try "Magical Trevor" on the same website as the Badger thing
one listen and I couldn’t get it out of my head, but it’s arguably much more wacky and juvenile than the Badger vid.
I just realized that the flash video has been playing on another tab for at least an hour
Muted, obviously

BTW
If anyone who has zero responsibilities and can take off for a couple weeks (plus some cash) needs something to do in the summer, head down to South Africa for the World Cup. I’m making the trip and am ridiculously excited. Everything I read about it gets me more excited. It’s going to be awesome, partly for the soccer, partly because it’s South Africa and mostly because it’s basically one huge party with people from around the world.

It's really not that bad down there
Obviously it can be dangerous, but if you’re not an idiot, you’ll be fine. I’m pretty much screwed.

i used to say that
after college, now have to add – “don’t do anything I would do, either.” gah. I miss UCLA.
Go Bruins!
Whatever/however long you feel like
I figure some of the old-timers will keep on with ‘hoo’

Do the Bruins have to wait to be invited to a bowl game to begin
practices or can they practice during this open period? Just wondering what they have been doing this past week?
by UCLA Championships Made Here on Dec 5, 2009 11:17 PM PST reply actions
Yea, how does that work?
Would we hypothetically be offered a bowl and then have it taken away if Army somehow pulled the upset? I’m lost.
well Rye said that's dec 12
and if so, bleh. but then again, it’s finals time. our athletes are actually student-athletes, so i’m sure they’ll appreciate the study time.
Go Bruins!
Well
you can’t post (or at least it’s more difficult to post) when you are at a game.
don't be fooled
I bet 100+ posts were related to badgerbadgerbadger. The BNers here ran up the post count. What’s your deal guys???!!!
That's all?
I would have thought more than that. We can’t have been slacking off from the badgers that much.
formerly bruinhoo
they have no chance at winning
So that’s just unsportsmanlike of Hawaii. WHAT’S THEIR DEAL??? (making stupid comments is all i have right now.)
Go Bruins!
hmmm. thinking of a classy response. oh yeah.
BADGERS. BADGERS. BADGERS. BADGERS. BADGERS. BADGERS. BADGERS. BADGERS. BADGERS. BADGERS. BADGERS.
Go Bruins!
ok just watching ESPN
they’re projecting one of the BCS bowls to be TCU vs BSU. In other words, the “non-BCS can screw yourselves bowl” Two will enter. One will leave.
Go Bruins!
