"I feel like our team is a lot more united. Sometimes when things didn't go Drew's way, he'd have a fit. We'd try to help him, and he didn't want to hear it. Now that he left, we kind of feel like we need to start over."

And it showed against Kansas
They look much better. They look like guys with their backs to the wall, but they look like guys together in that situation. I expect a lot of improvement throughout the rest of the season.

Chemistry is a huge factor in basketball
It makes me wonder how the Lakers won three straight with their top two players acting like babies the entire time.
Sometimes talent can overcome chemistry
but we’re not the Lakers, and none of our players have the talent and ability of Kobe and Shaq. It should also be noted that even though Kobe and Shaq didn’t get along, they still played well together (for the most part). In a recent interview with Kobe, someone asked him if he could give LBJ any tips about playing with Shaq, and Kobe clearly knew the answer, but wasn’t going to give it up. Kobe clearly knew how to play well with Shaq, even if he didn’t always enjoy their relationship.
Yeah
I’m not using that as a criticism of our team, just saying. It helped that the Lakers had a ton of veterans to defuse personality issues and they had a well defined offensive system based on all of the players reading a defense rather than having one or two guys setting the table for everyone else, where those kinds of conflicts can manifest themselves on the court.
Yup yup!
Kobe used to ball hog just to tick off Shaq, but when he wanted he could setup Shaq perfectly everytime down. It go to the point were Shaq stopped setting screens for Kobe on the pick and roll because Kobe would rather die before passing it to Shaq…
Wow
Thank God he’s off of the team. For a freshman to notice something like that, it must have been bad…

I Felt a New Beginning Last Night
Clearly DG was a negative influence despite his considerable talents that could have been developed to take him to that next level (he obviously feels entitled to.) I think we will see much better basketball from this young team which will continue to grow together this season. Hope RN isn’t too uncomfortable today—-he really took a nasty shot to that eye!
This may make us feel a little better about DG leaving, BUT...
… this kind of stuff needs to stay in-house. Circle the wagons, block the distractions, and focus on getting schoolwork and BB skills done.

Leave it to a freshman to blab to the media.
Bad sign in my eyes. Hope I’m not reading too much into this, but no bueno.
Bruin-4-Life!!!
I like that TH stepped up and said this
Usually freshmen don’t like to get in the spotlight when it comes to important team issues like this, but TH came out and actually answered truthfully instead of diplomatically (“Yeah, Gordon was a great guy and a great player, but he’s gone and now we have to move on” or some crap like that). Makes me confident that he can be a team leader soon along the lines of AA.
I agree
I see statements like this, and KL’s as loyal players circling the wagons to defend a program and CBH.
They know that CBH is to classy to defend himself and will stay above it.
This was not selfish, not egotistical — just honest.
And, I applaud him for saying it.
sjh
Kudos, TH
Well-stated, and thanks for the honest approach.
Here’s to “starting over,” and moving on. I’m very proud of the job our “new” team did against #1 Kansas.
