Palm Springs High School senior quarterback Michael Karls shared his thoughts with Desert Sun reporter Drew Schmenner on his experience at the CIF banquet headlined by Rick Neuheisel. If you haven't, check out highlights of CRN's remarks here.

BTW This week Karls' Indians prepare to play Serrano on Saturday in the CIF Southern Section Eastern Division championship game Saturday.

Wait, so is Michael Karls

someone we’re recruiting? I looked him up on Scout but couldn’t find him…

Don't think so

I didn’t identify him as a UCLA recruit.

Not really the point anyway

It’s Neuheisel putting himself out there, being involved with high schools, and getting out the word of mouth that he is COOL.

And he is COOL without being a pompous ass like Cheatey Petey.

I can’t remember CTS ever doing anything outside of the usual recruiting circuit. I guess kids aren’t as impressed by well-ironed khakis…

But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

I don't ever recall reading stories about CTS recruiting

It was always his assistants. He liked golfing though.

Easy to do I guess

When you spend the whole day “disciplining your resources.”

The way I imagined it

He was turning the corner all day in a round room.

Def.

pondering away, as the Thinker of Westwood.

That reminds me

Rodin’s “The Thinker” looks like he’s making one of KD’s “movements”.

Okay that one was a stretch. You win this round.

There has to be more

than what we came up with in this thread.

Sure there is

CTS is the epitome of coolness…he can txt msg! OMG! U R FIRED!

But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

Thank you, I realize it wasn't the point

I was just curious as to who Karls was because I follow recruiting and hadn’t heard his name before.

You’re absolutely right, it’s definitely a good thing that high school kids come away from talks by our head coach, completely STOKED on the program.

the main difference to me between carroll and neuheisel

as far as whatever “cool” factor they have is that Carroll’s is based on acting like a kid, while Neuheisel acts like a man. At least as far as public behavior goes; I obviously don’t know if Carroll cleans up nicely or not when meeting privately with recruits’ parents, etc.

Anyways, Neuheisel just seems to me to be one of the most eloquent and intelligent college coaches around.
