UCLA Class
Bumped. GO BRUINS. -N
Just wanted to tell a quick story.
My 3 brothers and 3 sisters and I were all raised UCLA fans and suc haters. While none of us had the grades to attend this greatest of all schools, we all would attend football and basketball games when we could.
This was especially true for my oldest sister, Timson Dawn Marie. Nearly 2 years ago she found out she had skin cancer. After fighting bravely, she died on 2-10-09. my brother Andy had called both Simers and Plaschke at the L.A. Times to tell them of her love of all things Bruin.
Well to everybody's surprise, there was a call today to tell us they were saddened to hear of our loss. The caller? CBH:

For this man to call and reach out to us speaks of nothing but class and humanity. I know there is a Pac 10 Championship to win and he still took time to call and offer prayers.
A GREAT MAN.
Thank you for reading the post.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

for sharing. Don’t know what to say except I’m sorry for your loss and hang in there. Can’t believe you posted this today but I’m glad that CBH could bring a bit of joy on such a trying day.
My condolences
Though we’ve never met, we are nonetheless united by our extended family, the Bruin family. May she rest in peace.
Very sorry for you loss.
And CBH’s gesture is touching, classy and not surprising considering the man.
My sympathies
to you and your family at this time, and thank you for sharing yet another positive story about our Coach, he really is the Caretaker in every respect.
I am sorry for your loss --
Thank you for sharing this story with us. It shows the proper perspective on the big picture.
May you and your family find peace and comfort.

Condolences
Thank you for sharing this story. Your Bruin family wishes you and your family peace during this time.
I feel for you and your family.
It is inspiring to me that in your time of mourning, you can achieve some measure of relief through the UCLA community and it’s Athletic programs. I am honored that you should think so highly of us and welcome you on my behalf into the Bruin Family.

First of all, I am truly sorry for your loss. Having lost my mom 7 years ago, when both her and I were way too young, I can empathize with the pain you are going through.
Secondly, my friends Mark and Charlie( the only one of us to attend UCLA), and my dad and I had the pleasure of not only being at the Stanford game but also getting our pictures taken with both CBH and CRN after the game.
What an honor and pleasure to get to speak with each of these two great coaches. Both of these men took time out of their very busy schedules to not only take pictures with us but chat with us about the programs and thank us for being fans and coming out to the games. Who spends this time with 4 grown men ranging in age from 37 to 64 in addition to the time they spent with the kids that wanted pictures? CBH and CRN, two great coaches and two great men…
All hail the Mighty Bruins!
Our sincere prayers for you, your sister, and your whole family.
It’s good to hear that CBH reached out to express his good wishes to your family. Thank you for sharing this with us.
May God (or whatever deity) bless your sister and all your family with healing, comfort, peace and love.
Take care, and God bless —
M
PS — I would like to recommend an award-winning graphic novel written by the brother of a UCLA alum, called “Mom’s Cancer” by Brian Fies.
When you are up to it, it is a moving, but not somber, account of how their family dealt with their mother’s diagnosis of brain cancer. It was their mother’s wish to have the book distributed among hospitals, support groups, and families coping with cancer. Perhaps it can bring you a small measure of comfort.

My condolences
for your and your family’s loss. I can’t believe you were able to share your story with us during what must be a painful period to say the least, but thank you for sharing such a poignant moment with all of us here on BN.
I'm So Sorry For Your Loss
Thank you for sharing this lovely moment with us. While it may not be a surprise to most of us that Our Caretaker is much, much more than just a terrific basketball coach, it is very generous of you to share this poignant act of caring with all of us.
Bless you and your family.

My condolences
The mere fact that the extensions of all things UCLA can lend comfort to you and your family at this most difficult time is truly special. I have always been a proud Bruin, but never have I ever been more proud than the very moment I finished reading your post. Beyond the stats, the achievements, the titles, your post has absolutley transcended how special it is to be a member of the Bruin Family. Thank you, and please know you and your family are in our prayers.
God Bless
Bruinbornandraised, I want you to know
that Pauley is blessed to ever have a faithful fan in your sister. Every time when the Bruins play, your sister ’s graceful smiles will also be upon them, forever guiding them along their victorious ways.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss.
Thank you for posting this.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
Bruinbornandraised, you are all part of the UCLA family and we are thinking of you and yours at this awful time. CBH’s actions exemplify what it means for all of us to be part of that Bruin family. Wishing you peace and strength.

I am sorry for your loss
I lost my mom to cancer, so I understand how painful your situation is. Thank you for sharing your story, and may your your sister rest in peace.
How very big-hearted
and generous of you to take time, in your grief, to share Ben Howland’s kindness with us.
All the best to you and your family.
Thanks for sharing your story
You are more a member of the bruin family than many of us that were lucky enough to go to UCLA
Very sorry for your loss
Thank you for sharing. You are definitely part of the bruin family. We all express our sincere condolences. Thank you for sharing CBH’s kindness. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
My brother had skin cancer and passed away from melanoma 10 years ago. He fell in love with UCLA at an early age and achieved his ultimate goal of graduating in 1986. I learned to love all things UCLA from him and achieved the same goal shortly thereafter. Our extended bruin family helped me and my family during very difficult times. My brother was the biggest bruin fan I have ever met. We shared all things UCLA. I burst with pride knowing we were able to share our love of UCLA and be part of such a wonderful institution.
Thank you again for sharing. God Bless.
UCLA CLASS
