@ ASU Video Highlights
*Sigh*
*SPTRs*
No excuses, but come on, I mean really...
Josh Shipp led the Bruins with 16 points; his 12 first half points were key to keeping us in the game early. Michael Roll's nine points including a three with one second left tied the game at the half.
We had our chances in the second half, but ASU kept up their shooting. Darren Collison scored nine of his 15 points in the second half, but lost an and-1 on that questionable call by those SPTRs...
We always hate to lose and we hate when calls don't seem to go our way. But I'm sure CBH is telling our team that we can only worry about what we can control. Had we played a better game (we were out-rebounded 18-24 and slow on defensive rotations to the tune of 11 made 3-pointers) we could have still won.
The rest of the conference season remains plus the Pac-10 tournament. Plenty of time to get ready for the dance, regardless of the seed we get.
Go Bruins!

Ref knew what he wanted to call
I watched the DC drive about 6 times right now. If you watch the ref in the corner of the screen, he knew exactly what he wanted to call before it even happened. He already was in his little trot to do his charge call before DC even hit the ground. And the sad thing is he was actually in perfect position to see Pendergraph moving laterally and still didn’t care. Way to go SFPTR!

Remember these names....
Ken Ditty, Mark Reischling, Ruben Ramos
Here are their stats
I want The Den to remember these guys. Especially if they’re calling the UCLA – Washington game.

Ditty and Ramos
Don’t do many nationally televised games.
Reischling is a bit more experienced. I sure as hell don’t want to see him in the NCAA tourney.

Refs love taking and-1's away from DC
Anyone remember that moment during our comeback against Gonzaga when DC got fouled on a fastbreak, scored, but instead they called it on the floor and made him shoot 1and 1. Of course he missed the first, turning the possible 3 points into 0… and we all remember how THAT fired up the team… let’s hope this lights a fire that doesn’t stop until the season is over.

I remember that
Because at the time I thought that was the blown call that was going to kill our comeback. As bad as that call was though, at least he wasn’t called for a charge on it.

Do You Have the Play Where
I think it was Hardin who went behind the back and then flattened PAA and there was no call?
From what we could see on TV, it looked like CBH went after the ref’s. That was an egregious call that should have negated the basket.
And, CBH is usually so stoic — rare to see him go after ref’s.

a compilation
of awful calls throughout the season might generate some interest in accountable reffing
it doesn’t even have to be great reffing – just make it consistent – we aren’t the NBA playoffs here

What about Aboya?
I remember him being called for a blocking foul just a few possessions before they botched the Collison “charging” call. To me it looked like Aboya made it in time or at least very, very close.
If those two had been called the right way, we would have been playing with a three or four point lead instead of playing catch up.
And what about that broadcaster’s jinx on Collison’s FTA. They need to shut up until after the shot.

That's what makes the last call so ridiculous
Aboya was in a far better position than Pendergraph was. If Aboya was blocking, then Pendergraph was blocking. It was the exact same play and they F’d it.
I don’t have a problem with “jinxing” on FTs though. It’s the announcers job to discuss the players and DC being a very good FT shooter is an irresistable anecdote.

I think video of the Aboya “block” should be added. The contrast will make the Collison “charge” call look even worse.

absolutely
Aboya got one charge that wasn’t called anything, and a charge that was called a block, and pendergrass got a block called a charge. It was ridiculous.
