USA Today carried a story that shows Pete Carroll is the absolute highest paid employee among staff at 600 private colleges. Obviously he "earns" more money than Nobel Prize winners, educators, researchers, etc. Reaction from the coach and the school follow.
Carroll: "I'm entitled to it. I'm the greatest (not that Ali guy). All those profs, who cares about them? Everyone knows I produce far more thugs and criminals than they do."
USC Media Affairs: "At USC, we really have no compelling interest in academics or societal contributions. We just want to buy championships. We didn't underpay Reggie Bush, so why should we underpay his coach?"
