"The crowd was the best crowd that we had this year"-CBH
So I know there was much debate about the state of the Den in an earlier post by yarrp but according to an article in the Daily Bruin recapping yesterdays game, CBH pointed out to the fact that he appreciated the crowd yesterday. Not being able to camp out the night before, I had to sit up top, but the entire top section running the sideline across from the benches, from 311-314, was all students if im not mistaken. I dont think they usually fill up the student section that much up top but once again i have always sat on the bottom so i dont know for sure, but it seemed to me that there were A LOT more students at the game yesterday than at previous games.
Granted it was vs $C so a large turnout is to be expected, but it seems to me, you put more students in the seats, and all of a sudden the crowd becomes a factor and the players and CBH take notice. Correlation? possibly, but i hope that when if they redo Pauley, they add more lower level seating for students, because I think that it helped yesterday.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

There have been a full upper level student section before
but they usually sit down most of the game and don’t cheer much. Last night the upper level was loud and standing and cheering. The difference was not that the upper level was full, but that they were engaged and loud. The student section, top and bottom level, was great.

Always great to hear the students involved
But I have to say that the “blue hairs” also deserve some praise for the amount of noise they made last night. Actually, the credit really belongs to Dragovic, in my opinion. When he started raining those high arcing threes that were so dead center that they barely even moved the net, the place was going nuts.

I don't know if any Den folk/Band members read this
But there was another cool scene last night that would be great to recreate in blowout wins. There was a brief timeout called (was either a 30 sec or substiution TO) and about half way through, the band started playing “We Are The Mighty Bruins.” Because of the brevity of the timeout, the band had just barely finished the instrumental part of the song when play was about to resume. So, the band, a decent portion of the student body, and a little bit of the donor section continued to sing the lyrics, a capella, while the action was going on in the court. It had a great ‘victory anthem’ feel to it for the last few minutes of the game.
Obviously, this is only something that could be with the game well in hand, similar to the U – C – L – A “wave” that goes around the crowd during blowouts, but I think it could make a nice addition.

Mighty Bruins
Ah, I’m glad you brought this up! I love when we keep singing after the band has to stop. I don’t remember which game it was, (maybe Cal?) but when I watched the game again on FSN you can actually hear it on tv. So cool.

The "wave" spellout only done at blowouts?
That’s a shame; it sounds great at any time out where we have momentum and gets the alum sections involved.

So proud of the Den last night
I know I was down on the students in my post, and it’s not like those problems disappeared completely, but something about ‘SC and how we BURIED them in the first half just had the place rockin’. My voice is still recovering… no time to sleep it off because of 3 midterms today, but I’m wearing my hoarse-ness with pride, and judging by the reckless abandon people were yelling with around me last night, I know I’m not the only one.

can't wait til the Pauley renovation when seating is better
I literally feel like I am a mile from the action in the 300 seats…
