Campus Squirrels: Aboya wants to eat you
You already know he eats snake. Dohn reports that Aboya also enjoys squirrel, and says "the (ones) on campus are fat".
The image of Alfred walking to class and spotting lunch scurrying up a tree is amusing to me.

No way dude!
Those squirrels are psycho! They will all gang up and attack him! Those friggin’ rodents must have eaten half my meals on campus.
Don’t do it Alfred! Ne mange pas les ecureuils!!!
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

No kidding
Those squirrels are organized. They have the cutest one walk right in front of you and capture your attention. The next thing you know, there are 4 surrounding you and ready to pounce on whatever it is you’re eating.
And let’s not forget the ones that hide in the trash cans.
USC has similar creatures… except they’re called rats. Haha. No seriously, they’re called co-eds. ouch!

I have never met more violent squirrels
than the squirrels on campus. They have zero fear, and they’re about the size of mutant guinea pigs, only more crazed and with sharper claws.
I was sitting in front of Ackerman one morning – actually, more towards the Morgan Center on the little grassy patch in front of it – and I put down one of my bagels. That thing was gone in about three seconds.

Second the no fear
I would be amazed that they would come right up to you while you were eating. I’ll never forget grabbing lunch between work and class one day and one sniffing my shoes while I was eating.
I went to high school a mile away from the beach, and the sea gulls would fly in after lunch, but at least they would wait until everyone went back to class before making their move.

Campus Squirrels!
I remember the squirrels fondly. They were great. They make the campus just that much more alive. It always cracked me up when they chase each other around in and out of trees.
I have to tell you Alfred is Old School. My aunt and others in my family that go back to the old country all ate snake, turtle, rabbit and apple cores. We grew up with stories about how my Grandfather could hit a snake a mile away with a .22. I’m not saying he could, I’m just saying those were the stories. That’s just the way it is in some parts of the world. Old School, baby. Old School.

Sorry. Hit a Rabbit. Not hit a snake at a mile away.

Never forget
one time I was walking down the walkway between Math Sci and Kerkhoff, heading to Bruin Walk, when suddenly this squirrel just pop out in front of me, stopped in the middle of the walkway and just stared at me, one claw raised. WTF was that! I stop dead on my tracks. Couldn’t shoo it away. It scooted along once a utility truck drove by. Scary ass squirrel I tell you, cost me a whole bunch of therapy;)

Every UCLA student has a squirrel story
I think there was a DB article that once suggested that Squirrels is a more accurate mascot choice than Bruins.

At one point, you could get a gift card to the UCLA Store with a squirrel on it
I don’t know if you still can.

I Just Appreciate
these stories so much, because my family has thought me completely delusional about these squirrels for almost thirty years now, and obviously, the UCLA Scary-Ass Semi-Secret Squirrel Army is real.
