Pure Speed
Randall Carroll, who rejected Pom Pom's football program to sign up for Rick Neuheisel and UCLA, showed off his speed this weekend:
Sprinter Randall Carroll of Los Angeles Cathedral showed he hasn't lost any of his speed at Saturday's Pasadena Games. He won the 100 in 10.51 seconds and the 200 in 21.79.
Carroll is the defending state champion in both events and has signed with UCLA to play football. It was his first big meet of the season, and both times rank as fastest in the state.
Can't wait to see what this kid does in the Rose Bowl next season and beyond. We haven't had this kid of speed in our football program since the days of Freddie Mitchell.
GO BRUINS.

It's been said many times and it's as true now as it has ever been
You can’t teach speed.

Another maxim we'll be happy to follow this year:
“Speed kills.”

This is very encouraging.
I will enjoy watching Randall spread the field, and open up the lanes.
A coach is someone who can give correction without causing resentment. John Wooden
Also
it will be good for the secondary to see and practice against that sort of speed, too.

Exactly.
Depth not only helps in the players you get to put on the field, but in the quality and readiness of the guys that get on the field first. You practice against better players, you play better. That’s aprt of the reason, I think, that our 20 returning starters 2 seasons ago did not progress much during the season — because they really had no quality depth behind them to be tested against.
In basketball, I think LMR and AA2 became better at post-D in no small part because they had to defend KL in practice. When KL got hit with foul trouble, our reserves still held down the fort fairly well.

Dang...
10.51…that’s fast…
Can’t wait to see Petey’s boys get burned by Sweet Carroll.
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
blazing speed
I liked in the video how he can call a touchdown while barely up field. He’s got speed, moves, and confidence. He will be fun to watch on Saturdays.
He finally have a burner that can take it the distance for a momentum changer, almost like a percy harvin out of florida.
GO BRUINS!!! CHEER LIKE CHAMPIONS!!!
He has a little 'tude
The good kind, the competitive kind. We’ve been missing that edge.
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
Jim McElroy, Freddie Mitchell, Matt Willis...
… and now Randall Carroll.
