I expect an apology
After reading about the tie breakers for the PAC-10 regular season championship and with the ASU loss still an open wound in my mind, I think that our seniors deserve an apology.
Bill McCabe admited that the game changing charge call against DC was wrong. Brian Dohn wrote a better story about it but that has been archived and I can't find it.
Since UCLA owned all the tie breakers, the SPTR's have cost Darren Collison, Josh Ship and Alfred Aboya their fourth PAC-10 regular season championship.
In the record books Washington should get an asterisk. Not because of anything Washington did, they had a great season (for Washington).
The Bruins have done a great thing this year and they deserve the regular season championship even if that is never in the record books.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Don't hold your breath
I look at it this way: there is no way to know if we indeed would have pulled out that ASU game had we got that call. We didn’t, so be it.
Had we not lost to WSU home, a game truly lost due to lack of focus and intensity, we would be celebrating our 4th straight PAC 10 Championship and a 1 seed in the PAC10 tourney.
That being said, we cannot and should not dwell on the past. It’s a new season in front of us.

I'm somewhat torn about this
I believe we cost ourselves that chance by losing to Arizona and to WSU at home. I also believe that the Pac 10 will do nothing about us having the worst ref crews in the country unless they receive a severe kick in the ass. If pointing out that they altered the standings with their incompetence will get that done, then I can’t say that I’d be completely against that kind of action either.

Sorry
The refs are the same for all the conference. We couldn’t beat WSU at home, Washington could. Washington deserves the title. We aren’t owed anything. In order for us to be the best, we need to take responsibility. Not only did Washington beat us outright, they did it with less talent. They get all the credit in the world from me. That is not to say I don’t understand your point, I just don’t necessariy agree.
The good news is, we get a chance to shine in the Pac-10 Tourney, and beat Washington.
Go Bruins.

I'm not expecting anything.
I just want people to be aware of the situation.
The PAC-10 will never change a result but if there is a backlash someone might eventually figure out that something has to change.
I want the team to know that they are champions in my mind.

Slightly OT, But Not Really
I just watched the Duke UNC game in which Siegler got call for two offensive fouls for using his off arm, on a drive, in the same way that Harden uses it on every drive. Actually, Siegler didn’t push as hard as Harden almost always does.
Do they use a different rule book in the ACC?

They don't have a different rulebook
It’s just that the Pac 10 refs don’t use one at all.

Oh, they have one...
but Hooked On Phonics did NOT work for them… :-)

The ACC actually expects some level of competence in its referees
Not to say that some favoritism does not exist (cough*Duke*cough), but after watching 30-some ACC games in person, and many more on TV in recent years, I have come to the conclusion that their refs are actually decent. A crazy idea, I know.

uh
Were you thinking of Kyle Singler?

I'm sure he appreciates the correction
Since the misspelling obviously fundamentally changes the content of the message.

And I expect apologies from...
John McKay, John Robinson, and Pete Carroll for cheating, and for OJ to apologize for killing Nicole and Ron.

Pac 10 Has Apologized For SPTR's in the Distant Past
I remember years ago that the SPTR’s allowed a 3 point basket to Stanford in a game at the Farm against UCLA. Replays showed that the guy who shot it (Todd Lichti, I believe) was about a foot inside the line. This was before referees could look at replays to change calls. The shot was at the buzzer and allowed the game to go into overtime. If it was called correctly as a 2 point basket, UCLA would have won. In overtime, Stanford wound up winning. The Pac 10 wrote a letter of apology to then-coach Walt Hazzard, who prophetically responded at a booster gathering by saying “I invite the Pac 10 to stand next to me in the unemployment line.” A lot of good the apology did for Hazzard, and a lot of good it would do for us now!

I hate SPTR.
But I like to think that we’re not the only victims to their incompetence. Although mostly SPTRs seem to work against our favor, we did have two memorable calls last season that could have easily been reversed and worked against us (Lopez’s foul on DC and JS’s miracle shot).
I’ll sit still as long as they’re making bad calls on all the other PAC-10 teams. I won’t be happy, but I’ll sit still…
