A quick reminder: not a single UCLA Bruin was drafted in the first five seven rounds of NFL's 2009 draft. Just another jarring reminder on the state of our program when Neuheisel took over in January of 2008. GO BRUINS.

Truly sad

I was going to post this up…

It is only the second time in almost 50 years that no UCLA players were selected in the draft. Since quarterback Billy Kilmer and defensive back Jim Johnson were each selected in the first round of the 1961 draft, the only year in which the Bruins failed to have a player selected was 1997.

KD: the gift that needs to stop giving

But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

A bit surprised

I figured at least Perez would get a look. He had the physical tools and was a pretty solid punter. Wasn’t as good as Kluwe was, but I figured he’d go late in the seventh round.

If you ever wanted to see just how bare KD left the cupboards, remember that this year, Abiliene Christian had more players drafted (2) than UCLA (0).

Pretty embarassing. And yet, CRN was able to string together a few wins last season in spite of it. Imagine what the Bruins will do once CRN has brought in some real talent.

I thought Harwell had a chance to go in the later rounds

but what do I know.

Here’s a list of the number of drafted players from each Pac-10 school:
USC 11
OSU 7
Oregon 6
Cal 3
ASU 2
Arizona 2
Wash St 1
UW 0
UCLA 0
Stanford 0

It still amazes me that idiots out there were actually defending Dorrell’s recruiting (pre-Walker).

Sickening

I comment on this elsewhere before I saw Nestor’s Fanshot.

Thanks, Karl! Hope you’re doing well, too!
