Cowan and Harwell ink deals
1st link is for Cowan, here's the link for Harwell.
Good for them. A friend of mine at school is a redskins fan and next to Haynesworth, they have some questions at DT. I hope BH gets a good look.

More fallout from Dorrell
No Bruins taken in any round of the NFL draft.
What a disgrace. I know this will change, but still.
I’m dating myself but 20 years ago, UCLA guys were taken by the boatload in the draft.
And now…nothing.

At one point
UCLA had more players in the NFL than any other school…and it wasn’t 20 years ago!
Really sad, but hopefully it will make people lay off CRN’s back and recognize what a tough task he is facing. We’ll be back there again.
Still…it’s unbelievable and mind-boggling…even players from the last class that Toledo recruited got drafted…
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

I do recall this
I believe, for some time, it was SC and UCLA neck and neck for most players in the NFL. I can’t even bear to look at where UCLA has fallen in recent years.
At least we kick SC’s ass as far as alums in the NBA. The two SC scrubs on the disgusting Boston Celtics hardly ever play. It does make me happy that they are on the Celtics, too. Go Bulls, for God’s sake!

At least CTS has the grace not to become an instant expert on ESPN and rag on UCLA
We haven’t heard a word from CTS about unreasonable fan expectations, or anything like that. Although he had no idea what he was doing as an alleged head coach, he clearly has far more class than CHP. I suppose you can attribute that to a UCLA education.

Lavin the Lizard
was and is just an egotistical idiot. Dorrell was and is not a bad person—he was just in way over his head. So, I agree with you.
Remember when Lavin canceled his freaking wedding reception—by mass email—because he was too stupid and invited more people than the venue could hold? In my heart, I believe if Dorrell had been in the same situation, he would have found a way to make the event work without disinviting everyone (including Coach Wooden!).
I know this is way OT but I can’t resist using this post as an opportunity to bash Lavin around.

We were just talking about that
i still can’t believe the way he handled his wedding. I mean, you send out an email saying that too many people RSVP’d yes so you have to move it to Europe? No class.
I see him and Dorrell very differently. Like you said – Dorrell is not a bad person. He is actually a very nice guy but he just was not good in this position. Lavin is a classless weasel.

Classless weasel
Anytime anyone uses the word “weasel,” I burst out laughing. That was awesome.
And I think Lavinoma was getting married at the Montage or some 5 star joint in Laguna Beach or Dana Point. My wife is an event planner. I know a little bit about planning just from osmosis. If someone can afford to invite 500 people to the Montage and a few too many RSVP yes, if you pay the resort, the Montage will damn well find a way to make it work out. You can bet your ass on that. (And it was Lavin’s fault to begin with—even though a certain number of people are expected to RSVP no, you have to prepare that many or most may RSVP yes.)
Lavin just said, screw it, I’ll send out an email at midnight to 500 people, stiff Coach Wooden (his best man—retch), and fly to Paris. Gawd.

You got it all wrong
The Lavinoma did in fact very much intend to invite more people than the Montage could hold. This accomplishes two things:
1. Shows how “popular” the lizard is
2. Allows him to cancel the wedding! Even with the non-refundable fee, that is far less than he would have had to spend for a 500-person wedding!
I know it’s hard…but you have to think the way he thinks to figure it out…
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

You do
come up with some pretty decent conspiracy theories…this one might be true.

I wonder sometimes
why my brain doesn’t spend energy on something more useful…
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

Interestingly
I wouln’t have much of an issue if Dorrell was ever invited to come to an event as a “UCLA great” and talk about his experiences as a player (just like we still welcome back Hazzard and Farmer).
However, the lizard did NOTHING in comparison as a player or as a coach on his own merit. He is not a Bruin and will never be a Bruin.

I totally agree.
One is a Bruin. One is not a Bruin.

KD was a great player, just not a great coach
Not to mention a great player that our current head coach regards highly. His days as a student athlete automatically qualify him as a Bruin over a pretender like the Lizard who has brought many of us nothing but heartache.
