For those of you who live in or near LA, practice starts at 11:30 am. So if you are jonsing to see Milton Knox busting through the backfield get going now. Before you go down there you might want to head over here to print out roster list so you can identify the players. Remember all practices are OPEN to public. Thanks again to E. Corpuz for taking the incredible shots which we are posting all over BN. GO BRUINS.

quick observations
I just left after the 7 on 7s. As a team we definitely look stronger. Prince looks like a quarterback and a good one – solid arm, tight spiral, moves well. Brehaut is a thick dude and he looks like he can be a playmaker. Craft is still garbage – he may be a wonderful kid and I won’t doubt his courage and toughness but he’s a beacon of inconsistency … some great throws and some remarkably poor ones.
Presley looks like a football player – big, fast, strong and a playmaker in the slot. We have a ton of running backs. Lastly there’s an aura of confidence and a program on the rise. Good crowd out there taking it all in and the players are really going after it. There’s direction and a sense of focus that’s palpable.
One last thing, Nelson Rosario looks huge – he’s my pick for breakout offensive performer. It’s exciting stuff out there at Spaulding – if you’re local and have never been to spring practice I recommend it highly.

Milton Knox
had a few runs where he did a great job staying on his feet after contact ala MJD. He hits the hole hard. Dean looks solid too … that’s a position of strength. I’d love to hear what others think.

Had a little trouble connecting numbers to faces without a spring roster and with my poor eyesight (was watching from the roof of parking structure 6), but here’s what I was able to piece together, mostly observing offense.
RBs – #2 Milton Knox looked good – looked like baby Maurice Drew out there, in terms of height and gigantic thighs, as well as running style. I was also impressed by our running backs, in terms of fighting and finishing the run (actually, all offensive skill players – would finish at least 10 yards past the whistle, and even if they stepped out of bounds). I was impressed with Knox, Coleman, and Dean.
QBs – they rotated all the time, I’m not the best evaluator of QBs, and wasn’t really watching them, so I cant really tell you much other than Prince and Brehaut got the most of the reps and both looked good and bad at times, no one really stood out to me (but then again, wasnt really watching them closely).
WRs – Terrence Austin looks like he will be something special this upcoming season, looked very quick and showed off his good hands. Chris Forcier had a nice catch downfield towards the end of practice, but other than that, looked a little slow out there to me. I know he supposedly had the fastest 40 time, but that doesnt mean much to me.
Morrell Presley worked out with the WRs in the indy period, as I figured. He looks about the same as he did last season in terms of size. Last season he was basically a WR in our offense, one that moved around a lot, and what’s what Norm Chow has him doing – generally lined up in the slot, a couple times out wide, and a few times as a wing – only lined up as a true TE 2-3 times. Had one nice catch, but needs to work on blocking (attitude) and making the catch. Dropped 2-3 passes, on catches that were difficult but that I’ve seen him make. He needs to realize that high school is over, hes not the big man on campus anymore, he has to make the most of his reps and opportunities.
I think I saw Embree there, but only wearing a jersey with no shoulder pads.
OL – looks like they’ve developed a mean streak, and a competitive attitude in competitions with the DL during okies and pit drill, other than that wasn’t really watching them
Offensively nothing spectacular, just showed some basic zone, lead, sweep. Passing wise pretty simple stuff. Seemed to like the 3×1 and throwing to the singled up backside WR, a lot of sort curls, flood concept to one side (makes sense to make things simple for young QBs), vertical stretch over the middle. I saw a y-cross look a couple times, curl/flat, etc.

Confused
Isn’t Presley a freshman? Are you speaking of Moya or Rosario about last year?
Guessing, Forcier’s lack of quickness is probably because his brain is working full-time, trying to learn a position that he has never (?) played before. You can’t let it flow, if you’re unsure what “flow” is. Understandable.
Thanks for the notes. Love this time of year.
