The "Standard's" New Reality...
...they've become very average.
Looks like Xavier's Sean Miller is going to opt to stay in Xavier rather than taking the head coaching position at the "standard" of the Pac-10. Xavier is a good program, but I'm sure the MSM guys will be puzzled over how Miller could choose to stay at Xavier over the "rich tradition" at Arizona. We'll see who they go after next.

Guess the cheap housing and chimichangas aren’t enough to lure anyone to a program with no returning stars and no recruits.

They're just going to have to give up on the home run hire
I don’t see it happening.
Find a quality coach from a conference you don’t hear about much who has run a good program, and then rebuild.
But then I would like to see them down for a while… hrm.

Hey, Lavin actually meets your qualifications
1) According to ESPN, he was a quality coach at UCLA – just got caught in unrealistic expectations.
2) ESPN doesn’t talk much about the Pac-10.
3) And he must of run a good program – 5 Sweet 16s in 7 years.
Also, let’s not forget all the praised heaped down upon Lavin all those years from Lute Olson.
Sign him up!!

Yahoo Sports Reporting Miller accepts

Miller told Arizona he would remain at Xavier late last night, however then asked for a chance to sleep on the decision. After going back and forth during the morning, a source said, he informed XU athletic director Mike Bobinski of his decision at noon ET.

Miller to Arizona is Official
There some sort of guilty pleasure in watching a rival look for a new coach but now that Miller is going to Arizona I’m even more upset with Pete Dalis then ever. He made us toil through seven years of stupid Lavin before UCLA finally hired a qualified replacement to Harrick. Arizona could have given the radio announcer an extension for making the sweet 16 but instead they listened to their fanbase and found a quality coach. I don’t know if Arizona, as a state school, learned from our mistake but we lost seven years.

Definition of "standard"...
One meaning of “standard” in American Heritage dictionary is: “Acceptable but of less than top quality,” which is pretty much where U. of A. at 8-10 in the Pac-10 in a down year in the conference can be said to be. Merriam-Webster agrees: “Sound and usable but not of top quality.”
