UCLA Baseball: Bruins Taking On #5 UCI Tonight
I wish I had time to give a heads up about early this am. UCLA baseball is taking on UCI Anteaters (a program that Coach Savage built) tonight at Jackie Robinson before heading up to Palo Alto for a huge series against Stanford.
From the official site:
UCLA takes on No. 5 UC Irvine (19-8) on Tuesday evening under the lights at Jackie Robinson Stadium (6 p.m.) in both teams' second of three meetings this season. The Bruins dropped a 7-4 decision to the Anteaters at Minute Maid Park in the Houston College Classic on March 1. UCLA (11-17, 5-4 Pac-10) turns to junior right-hander Garett Claypool on Tuesday evening.
SERIES VS. UC IRVINE: UCLA leads, 40-23-1
CURRENT SERIES STREAK: UC Irvine, one winFor the second consecutive weekend, the Bruins will play a three-game Pac-10 series on the road. UCLA faces Stanford (11-12, 5-4 Pac-10) in Palo Alto, Calif., beginning Thursday, April 9. The Bruins and Cardinal will square off Thursday and Friday at 5:30 p.m. before taking the field in the series finale Sunday at 1 p.m. One year ago, Stanford won the first two of three games against UCLA at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The Bruins earned a three-game sweep at Sunken Diamond in 2007.
You can get more details including the pitching matchups here.
If any of you want to follow the action online you can do so by the official gametracker here.

If the Bruins can pull it out tonight, it will be a big momentum boost for their trip up North. Hope the boys get it done.
GO BRUINS.

We're in a rain delay
Cody Decker hit a two run homer (his third consecutive game with a homer) just before the rain brought the game to a halt. It doesn’t look like we’ll get anything else in tonight, but if we do, the Bruins will still be at the plate in the third with a 3-2 lead.

Of course just as I said this
the two teams take the field again. It looks like we’ll try to finish this one up.

Hey Rye
does ucla have to win the pac 10 to get to the playoffs? or would being top 2 or 3 in conference be enough because of strength of schedule if we were hot at the end?

We don't have to win the Pac 10
If we can win a few midweek games and finish in the top 3 of the conference we will have a shot.
