Quest For Bru-104: Baseball/Water Polo Open Thread
As rye mentioned earlier the four-time defending NCAA champions and will look to make it a mind-boggling five straight this evening by going up against Southern California Trojans.
Trojans are ranked number 1 in the nation. Number 3 Bruins made into the championship by beating number 2 Stanford in a buzzer beating goal.
The match will be televised live by CBS College Sports (Channel 613 on DirecTV) at 4:00 pm PT. You can also get a live video feed by following this link on the official site.
From Coach Adam Krikorian after yesterday's thrilling win:
"Tomorrow's game is a rematch of last year's championship, and is an exciting opportunity to play our crosstown rival," Krikorian said. "They looked unbeatable today, playing Hawai'i. No question, it's going to be a difficult game. But we've got to regroup and prepare to play the best team in the nation."
This will be Krikorian's final game as Women’s Water Polo coach, as he will move on to coach the national team. Let's hope the girls can send him off with Championship number 104.
Before the water polo action gets started don't forget we have a baseball game against Cal at 1:00 pm PT. You you can listen to it or follow it on GameTracker via the official site. Also you can get game updates to news to analysis to the latest on the Bruins' regional chances on rye's UCLA baseball twitter.
Good luck to all the Bruins out there and to everyone once again ... Happy Mom's Day.
GO BRUINS.

err, do you really mean final game (as in forever) or just for 1 year as he coaches the national team instead?

Is he coming back?
My understanding was that he is with UCLA till June 30th before taking over for the national team. Is he coming back to UCLA after he is done with the national team?

For at least 3 years
I think the idea is for him to coach at the 2012 Olympics.

Coach K leaving?
Can anyone confirm that Coack K is leaving, for good, and not just taking time off to coach the national team?

see my comment above
It’s to coach at least through the 2012 Olympics, to be as successful there as he’s been at UCLA.

Double whammy for trojies
Lose MVB final on Saturday to UCI (coached by a Bruin)
Lose WWP final on Sunday to UCLA

Is this their 5th straight Nat'l Title...
is it? I am fortunate enough to know C. Matthewson (she won 4 straight) – met at a class her senior year. This is an amazing run.
Coach K’s departure will hurt, but I hope not in terms of recruitment. We need to have some sort of continuity if we want to be perennial favorites. I mean, UCLA offers the best environment for recruits. They’re expanding Sunset Rec. so that our swim and polo teams would have the facility that matches the talent we have.
