8 Bruins Earn All Pac-10, Inouye-Perez Named Coach of the Year
Bumped. GO BRUINS. -N
Just a few days before they kick off the postseason, the Bruin softball team was honored for their fantastic Pac-10 finish. From the official site:
The Pac-10 Champions garnered four first-team honors, the most of any team. Senior Amanda Kamekona, juniors Megan Langenfeld and Kaila Shull and sophomore Katie Schroeder all received first-team accolades. Earning second-team plaudits were sophomores GiOnna DiSalvatore and Monica Harrison, while junior Julie Burney and freshman Andrea Harrison received honorable mention accolades. Harrison was also honored on the Pac-10 All-Freshman Team, as was Dani Yudin, who earned an honorable mention award.
Third-year head coach Kelly Inouye-Perez recieved some recognition as well, being named Pac-10 Coach of the Year after leading the Bruins to their 9th conference title.

I'm sure the team doesn't focus very much on individual accolades, but this has to be a nice perk going into the postseason.
UCLA plays Long Beach State at 3:30PM this Friday.

Hmm
Honestly not sure how to do that. I will try to look into it today (unless someone beats me to it).
Your post looks great as it is. I wouldn’t worry about centering it. I never center the shots in mine.
special congrats to Coach Kelly Inouye-Perez
Its hard following a legend and she is doing a great job.

Awesome
I’m incredibly happy for Coach I (and the rest of the team).
I remember I was working the softball beat for the DB her first season as head coach. Like silverlakebruin mentioned, she wasn’t just following anybody, but an absolute legend. The pressure was definitely on.
She was always very kind to me, and I’ll always specifically remember a phone interview I had to do with her following a particularly bad string of road losses we suffered through the weekend. It was a Sunday night, and I had an awful case of the flu. I was in no mood to write a story on deadline.
I got Coach I on the phone as they were leaving the stadium. Her phone had awful reception, and we kept getting disconnected. Everytime I’d call back I’d be cringing because I knew how tedious and annoying it was getting for her, made worse by the fact that we had just been swept. After the 3rd or so call, I barely had enough quotes to throw a story together. To my surprise though, she gave me a call 10 minutes later when her reception was better, she apologized for the breakup, and wanted to talk about the weekend’s slate of games again. I could tell she was understandbly upset about the losses, but she was very professional about it all, and went a bit out of her way to help me out.
I had a bunch of these little anecdotes working with the softball team that year that I don’t think I’ll ever forget. They’re really a great bunch, and any free chance I get, I try to go back to Easton to show them the support they deserve. Really happy for them, and I hope they’ll bring home our next national championship.
