Sullying Coach To Excuse Petey

You knew someone was going to get Greg Doyle eventually. It looks like the Trojan PR machine worked over Doyle really hard after he called out the U$C* as "the most scandalous athletic program of this era."

Now it looks like Doyle has come back with the old Carroll is doing what was happning with Wooden ala Sam Gilbert nonsense:

So who is Pete Carroll?

He's John Wooden.

And we all know what the NCAA did to Wooden when he had UCLA basketball rolling:

The NCAA did nothing. [...]

What this story is, I guess, is my irritation that Wooden continues to be hailed as one of the biggest saints in college sports ... while Carroll and men like him are considered sinners.

Wooden is universally considered a great human being, and I'm not disputing that. His gentility and grace, his humility and kindness, are well established. The next insult I hear directed at John Wooden will be the first insult I've ever heard directed at John Wooden. And this story isn't meant to insult the man, either.

Yeah calling out the integrity of a 98 year old man without sourcing to any credible evidence is not an insult. Okay. It is so easy to bring up that Sam Gilbert nonsense which we have rebutted over and over again (see the links below) to sweep away the laundry list of a systematic pattern of scandals of last few years.

Basically Doyle is trudging up the old stories that we saw Dan Wetzel (while he was at CBS Sportsline.com) brought up few years ago with references to unsupported, undocumented baseless stories around Sam Gilbert coming from known UCLA haters.

As pointed out earlier last week expect lot more Gilbert/Wooden smear in the coming months when the stories around NCAA and U$C heat up again. Luckily for us we have eviscerated and rebutted this nonsense over and over again here on BN. You can read them by going here, here, and here.

GO BRUINS.
