UCLA competitive with SEC teams in 2009?
Over on the WWL's Pac 10 Blog, they have been doing a series of "Mythical Matchups," pitting conferences together to see how they would fair. In this video, Ted Miller and Chris Low discuss the Pac 10 vs SEC match ups. Of course there's the usual USC vs Florida that everyone wants, but there's an interesting comment by Chris Low with around 2:00 left in the video, where he mentions that UCLA could be a top tier team in the Pac 10 this year, and that he expects them to beat Tennessee in 2009.
Sure, I think this is a given, but this does raise an interesting point that UCLA, as early as this year, could be competitive with mid-range SEC teams, and adding to the effort to legitimize the Pac 10 in the eyes of certain ahem voters.
Thoughts?
Ivan Maisel sits down with Ted Miller and Chris Low to pit the Pac 10 and the SEC head-to-head.

I'm unimpressed with Tennessee
and think we’re a better team. That said, Neyland is an awfully tough place to play and for that reason, I give the Vols the edge.

I gotta agree with Rye
Other than our issues with the O-Line, we are breaking in a new freshman quarterback, and this tough road setting will only be his second career start. However, I’m sure Chow and Neu will do a pretty good job keeping him from getting rattled.

Neyland stadium
In a neutral site, I’d give the edge to us. However, I don’t see us winning at place like Neyland with a first year starting QB and basically a brand new OL. No way.
Now Nestor - hold the negativity
I gave us no way to win with the leftovers CTS had in the cupboard and a new JC transfer at QB, even at the Rose Bowl. I gave us less than no way after the way the first half ended. Our QB will have a game under his belt before we head to Tennessee, and I’m not ready to discount our chances. Plus, the way Kiffin is going, he could have a zillion rules violations and have half his team on the sidelines in sweats by game time.
I mean hey
we’ll probably be undefeated going into that game :)
Agree.........
though I hope we are wrong on this. I have been to many games at Neyland Stadium and it is a great place to watch a game. It will be packed and because of the way the structure is built, it is very very loud. The loudest football stadium I have ever been in. The team and fans will of course want revenge for last year. However, I still give our team a decent chance to win since TN is not looking that good this year. I will be at the game cheering our Bruins on!
10-6
I think we pull this one out in a tough defensive battle. Brian Price gets 3 sacks. AV gets a pic-6 and we punt our way into field position for a lone field goal.
