The apple doesn't fall from the tree and the potential recruiting quandary...
I saw this in the local fish wrap a few days ago and thought Nester or one of the other front pagers would have picked it up. Maybe because it isn't directly a UCLA story, but it appears CRN's oldest boy has been named QB1 at Loyola HS as a junior.
If the young "gun slinging" Neuheisel turns out to be a top notch D1 QB prospect, does CRN and Coach Chow actively recruit him or would such a recuit produce cries of nepotism resulting in unwanted pressure on CRN, the program and Jerry causing the staff to "pass" (bad pun intended). Do you take a top recruit even if he is the coach's son or avoid the scrutiny and potentially have to scheme against him in the future?
Thoughts?

But don’t delete this post because I think you ask some good questions.
My persona view is we wait till we get more data points which is find out how we performs as Loyola’s QB (note the article stated he is going to have to fight to keep his starting job this upcoming camp as well).
Not worth the problems it could cause
In my opinion. Plenty of QB’s that would love to be at UCLA, I think it’s better if they avoid this being an issue.
yup!
which may explain my thought process on this topic

Interesting
I emailed the folks at RR last night to get their thoughts as well. I thought Cody Hawkins was working out well for the Buffs (liked what I saw from the games I was watching). Is there tension?
Don't Get me Wrong
Cody is an amazing kid, a great leader, and probably the best the Buffs have at QB right now. Myself personally, I like him as our QB despite some of his physical limitations. However it seems like there are more than a few people who feel differently and when things go wrong, the “QB as coach’s son” argument ALWAYS comes up. That’s why I think it’s just not worth the headache, it’s just another reason to stir up unnecessary controversy…and I’m sure you’ll agree the Times would be all over it.

As an LHS and UCLA alum
It’s a dream come true. If the kid is good, warrants a scholarship, and wants to be a Bruin, why not?
It’s not like CRN took the UCLA job to get his son a free ride, right? I mean, who the hell would do that nowadays?
Yeah
I think we should all wait to find out how he does as a starter before jumping into conclusions. If he proves himself at LHS, I say why not either.
One thing to remember about quarterbacks named Neuheisel
We had a QB named Rick Neuheisel a long time ago. He eventually was a Rose Bowl MVP. But alas, his performances in high school weren’t enough to get him a scholarship offer, and he had to walk on.
If we have a coaching staff that sees an intangible something, and some latent talent, and whatever else, and they want another quarterback named Neuheisel even if he doesn’t have all-world numbers in high school, I not going to tell the coaches to pass on him. if nothing else, they can invite him to walk on.
