Can't recall the last time we finished out of top-10. Have we ever? Did we ever finish that low during Pete Dalis era?

Stanford as usual finished number 1. U$C* despite the whole "lack of institutional control" deal continues to LOL at the impotent NCAA. Cal finishes number 7 in a great year for them. Washington (11), ASU (12), Oregon (22) and Arizona (24) were the other Pac-10 schools in top-25.

Have to say by UCLA standards this was an underachieving season in Westwood. GO BRUINS.

Some disappointments

The disappearance of our once-dominant track and field program hasn’t helped, and everybody but water polo finished worse than last year.

The system rewards breadth, and we have to continue to support all our teams—as BN does—revenue and nonrevenue.

Meanwhile, I think I read that Stanford will be cutting some nonrevenue sports, so that may even the playing field a bit, but UNC and others seem primed to fill some of those gaps.
