Mustain's Academic Issues Get "Resolved" Magically

Less than a week ago U$C* quarterback was facing "academic issues" that could have affected his eligibility for the 2009-10 season. Looks like the "issues" were resolved in less than a week:

USC quarterback Mitch Mustain has resolved an academic issue and is eligible for the coming season, Coach Pete Carroll said.

"It's been resolved," said Carroll, whose team reports for training camp Aug. 7.

Carroll had confirmed last week that Mustain, a fourth-year junior, was dealing with unspecified academic matters that could have jeopardized his eligibility. The Trojans open the season against San Jose State on Sept. 5.

Mustain could not be reached for comment.

As I said it all happened magically. Gotta love how the "education" thing works over at that glorified JC.

Of course there is no followup information from the Trojan Times beat writers about how it got resoled swifty. The lapdog reporters as usual didn't bother looking into how an academic issue that was going to kid someone out for an entire season got all worked out so effortlessly within a week. As usual nice work by the LA Times (cutting and pasting Trojan press releases its pathetic website).

GO BRUINS.

For Fox or other lawyers

There is a great lawyer saying that I’ve seen on this site, and I’d like to be refreshed on it. It goes something like “if you can’t pound the facts, pound the ??, and if you can’t pound the ??, pound your fist”. Can anyone help?

Various versions of this but...

If you can’t pound the facts, pound the law
if you can’t pound the law, pound the table

I love magic!

I can imagine Pete Carroll prancing through waving his pink magic wand in order to try and cure society’s ills.

OJ Simpson, wave of the wand, not guilty!
Reggie Bush, tap with the wand, your Heisman will stay with you forever!
Matt Leinhart, jazz hands over this picture, child support payments disappear!

Hurray for Pete and his magic wand!

Victory or until next year!

HAW HAW

This is great. The image in my mind that you have created. Oh if it wasn’t so funny it would be horrible.

I am a lawyer . . .

. . . but I haven’t heard that exact phrase. What I have heard from colleagues is “If the law is not on your side, argue the facts; if the facts are not on your side, argue the law” or something to that effect. So, perhaps the missing word is “law” with a slight rewording of the basic saying, albeit with a comedic twist.

"It's been resolved"

What say Petey?
- cash to the professor?
- cash to the Dean of Students?
- cash to the person inputting the grades into the suc computer system?
- cash to a computer nerd to hack into the suc computer system?

What say Petey?

I can tell you what his comment would be

“We don’t comment about on-going investigations.” Since everything at just$c* is basically an on-going investigation, Cheatie can’t talk about anything, except his humanitarian activities.

Shouldn't this post be a poll instead?

Who is surprised Mitch Mustain’s academic problems were resolved so quickly and quietly?

I’m thinking this would be a 100% participation type poll question.
