are the Trojies starting to warm up the bus to run over Timmeh?

Wolfie reports:

Hail To The Chief! By Scott Wolf on June 5, 2009 10:57 AM | | Comments (12) | ShareThis

We hear USC president Steve Sample is not hiding his displeasure around campus over the fact the basketball program finds itself under NCAA investigation.

Sample is displeased about the basketball team?

Does that mean he is totally cool with the football team which is also under investigation by the NCAA?

He is not happy with the allegations that OJ might have gotten $30,000 in improper benefits but he is cool with the allegation that Reggie Bush and his peeps might have gotten hundreds of thousands of dollars in improper benefits?

Interesting comments on the trOJie blog

There are Bruins asking the obvious question about whether Sample is content with the football program, there is one guy doing a Yoda impression for reasons that are beyond me, and there are trOJies who persist in killing the messenger. They make no comments on the Wolf story, just on the Bruins who ask about the question Wolf didn’t address.

Doesn’t anyone at just$c* have even one molecule of integrity? Have all of the souls been sold to the Devil so that Cheatie Petie can do whatever he wants? What a horrible way to live.

the funny thing is they think it is all from me using different ids

Kinda funny, but i don’t have that much free time to torment Scott Wolf.

I like the moron

who thinks the NCAA just punished UCLA for “cheating”. I assume he’s refering to the tennis team incident…which was SELF-REPORTED. These dumb ass stupid trOJies are a parody of themselves.

But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

Tennis cheating smack is hilarious

Given the fact that we immediately self reported (while they have been on deny and attack the messenger mode).

lol

Fox 71, I LOL at your comment regarding the guy doing the Yoda impression. I check out that blog sometimes and wonder the same thing…

I heard from a very reliable

source (you just gotta trust me on this one) that current Cal coach Mike Montgomery has told a few people close to him that he may be coming to coach at U$C. I would much rather have “Cheater Timmy” at SUC, and I can’t understand why Montgomery would leave Cal after a short time to come to one of the worst programs in the country, but if it is true then U$C would have definitely improved on the coaching side of things. Personally, I don’t think it will happen because of impending NCAA infractions that will surely hit the program soon……………but I am sure if U$C offers enough money, Montgomery would come. He has never been in trouble with the NCAA, so maybe the that South Central school is hoping to impress the NCAA with the hiring of a well-respected coach. I just thought I would pass that around.

Montgomer? Interesting

I still think Jamie Dixon will be one of the front runners. I rather have Monty at U$C* than Dixon.

by Nestor on Jun 6, 2009 8:44 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

The interesting thing is Dixon has never built a program

Monty has.

Dixon has done really well taking over the program Howland built, but building from scratch is a different. Not saying he can’t do it, just saying its an unknown.

That's a very good point

Here is the thing. Monty is a very good coach. But I thought his accomplishments at the Farm was somewhat inflated (just like Lute’s was at Zona) because they were fortunate enough to have a tool like Lavin manning the leadership spot at UCLA. They were able to get recruits because we were stuck with a poser in Westwood. Things are a little different now.

As for Dixon very good point about not having to build a program from scratch. Still I have been impressed with what he has done in Pittsburgh.

Montgomery to USC is hard to believe.

I can’t imagine any reason other than money to take that job, and I can’t imagine a sum that would entice a respected coach to take on such a smoking crater of a job. It makes no sense. Maybe if he was taking over after Bibby, before it was driven into the ground.

Then again, USC has managed to coerce Floyd twice from leaving the sinking ship. Who knows what leverage they have over Montgomery?

Dixon

Why would Dixon even entertain the notion of touching that radioactive situation? He may be from the the Southern California area, but I don’t think it would be enough of an incentive for him to join a toxic situation. And let’s face it, even after any sanctions the NCAA places (if ever), it won’t be long before they’re back to their usual shenanigans. Something about a leopard and spots…

If you are a Southern Californian at heart

You always look for an excuse to come back home from the East Coast, especially if it involves opportunity that pay up to your skills. You don’t really realize how much your miss family from California and the Pacific Ocean until you have spent time in the East.

Jamie is going to be very interested if Floyd is shown the door at South Central.

by Nestor on Jun 7, 2009 8:11 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

True, with an asterisk...

I miss California and the beach every single day. However, Southern Californian does not equal the "university "of southern california*.

If I may be so bold as to speak for some of us in exile, BB2K (Alabama), Fox (Tampa), 66 (Houston), BG (K.C.), me (Denver-burbs) all miss our former home in the southland very very much. I’d be back in Cali in a heartbeat, if the wife said ok.

However, there are not enough dollars in the world that could lure me back to a teaching position or job affiliated with u$c*.

If I had the choice btwn Pittsburgh and Figueroa tech? Pack the bags, honey, we’re moving East! I love the smell of steel in the morning.

That's a very good point

Then again Denver/Colorado is a pretty awesome to place to live.

The key fact here is though Dixon is not a Bruin alum like us so he wouldn’t be under same emotional restrictions as the rest of us.

by Nestor on Jun 9, 2009 10:13 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sure

That’s true and all because that was one of the allures for Howland to come to UCLA. But I don’t see how coming into an even worse situation than Lavin left for Howland would benefit Dixon. This is a program where sanctions should be coming down soon. Plus, he’s got to recruit against Howland and especially UCLA. I feel that Pitt will make him an offer that he cannot refuse and that he’ll stay.
