Actually that joke goes way back to Tommie Hawkins
One of the first (and still one of the few) Notre Damers to go to the nba. For many years he used to joke about having to take a pay cut to go to the nba.
But no matter who used the phrase first (and it may predate Hawkins), the reaction from the audience and from Sanchez himself shows that the world understands the hypocricy that is just$c*.
Hilarious!
That was probably my favorite part of the ESPY’s. And I’m not even a UCLA fan.
