Nestor had an article about this being the 25th anniversary of the LA Olympics. Today's edition of the fishwrap has an article on Rafter Johnson. Hey, even the fishwrap gets it right sometimes.

"the cotton fields of California's Central Valley"
Sorta funny, I’m currently visiting my parents in Kingsburg, CA where Rafer Johnson spent the latter part of his youth. About three blocks from my folks’ house is Rafer Johnson Junior High, home of the Olympians, a few blocks further down the road is a large mural commemorating his atheltic achievments. Suffice it to say, Mr. Johnson is regarded as a hero around these parts, as well he should be.
