Prothro vs. McKay: Character Players
There's an article today about all of the Heisman trophy winners (living and deceased) -- "Where Are They Now?". The link is: http://www.lostlettermen.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=403
Both Tommy Prothro (OSU, UCLA) and John McKay (USC) had 2 selectees. Where the honorees are now gives an indication of which schools promoted character and which did not. Quoted material below the jump...
1962: Terry Baker (Oregon State) – Retired lawyer living in Portland, OR (age 68)
1965: Mike Garrett (USC) – USC athletic director under fire for possible NCAA violations by football and basketball programs (age 65)
1967: Gary Beban (UCLA) - President of real estate company, CB Richard Ellis Services Inc. in Northbrook, IL (age 63)
1968: O.J. Simpson (USC) - Serving at least 9 years in Lovelock, NV prison (age 62)
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

but the typical trOJan would point out,
“we still have two out of four on that list, b*****s!”

So fitting
The face of u$c serving 9 years in prison and should be spending like. What a total dope.

I hadn't thought about this little tidbit.
If someone wrote that the Bruin Heisman winners were a retired lawyer and a real estate executive, while the trOJan winners were the head of the most corrupt organization this side of the Corleone family and the other was in jail, that person would be accused of being a felon and just out to do a book deal. No one would believe it.
What a perfect description of the kinds of people turned out by Coach Prothro compared with those turned out by the former paymaster of Figueroa.

Mike Garret reminds me of Dick Cheney
In that I take one look at his face and I know that man is evil. They have taken on this grim persona that all those who have sold their souls wear.

Quick Gripe on Cheney
One time on the “Daily Show”, they showed him side by side with Mr. Potter, the villian in “It’s a Wonderful Life.” The similarity was much too striking.
And now, back to all things UCL.

Dropping the bomb
My favorite closeing argument with SC alums is what I call “dropping the bomb” and goes something like this: “Yes but, UCLA’s most famous sports legends are Jackie Robinson, John Wooden, and Arthur Ashe. Great men who are paradigms of viture and who have changed the world for the better. USC’s most famous sports legend is OJ Simpson.”

Amen
CRN collects high praise (& recruits) from around the nation & Pete Carroll, well “He’s Pushing It,” according to the LA Times.
USC Football, your days are numbered… & you know it.
BTW: You can't spell Trojan without OJ. UCLA GO FIGHT WIN BABY!
