Ugh, Not That "Manhattan"
From the LA Times:
UCLA and Rutgers were in negotiations to play in the 2010 season opener at Giants Stadium, but the deal crumbled when Kansas State decided to remain on the Bruins’ 2010 schedule. UCLA plays in Manhattan, Kan., next season. UCLA officials are exploring moving another game to the season opener for a national broadcast, possibly Texas.
Man. Season opener at the Giant Stadium to start the 2010 season would have been incredible. But I will take a game against Texas too. Any excuses to go down to Austin and have Salt Lick Barbecue, works for me.
GO BRUINS.

They were looking to
but couldn’t find a replacement on short notice for this year. i doubt they would back out of next year’s game because they will have already come out here and wouldn’t pass on the home game after that.

Salt Lick-- Real Texas food.
One of my favorite Texas barbecues — not counting the roadside stands that represent the genre best.
Almost as good, the stuff I make. Nestor, come to Houston and I’ll cue for you.
Low and slow — the key to our cuisine.

If Texas
I wonder if they would play it in the new Cowboys stadium?

Austin Is a Better Venue -- If not a better stadium.
Although it’s been developed quite a bit in the last several years, I think Austin remains one of America’s best college towns. As Nestor mentions above, Austin is a great city for good, diverse music. It also has thriving film and art communities.
Good, inexpensive restaurants and as laid back as a Texas city can be.
Dallas and surrounds are a bit more formal and less collegiate. But, you are right, that is an incredible stadium.
