Baseball Recruit Stassi Signs With A's
UCLA recruit Max Stassi, a catcher from Yuba City, CA, has decided to bypass college and move on to pro ball. Stassi signed with the Oakland A's for a reported $1.5 million signing bonus, which is more than he was originally asking for.
If you remember, Stassi was a projected 1st round pick, but dropped to the 4th round when teams were scared they would not be able to meet his high signing bonus demands. That led to some thought that Stassi may actually go to UCLA, a far fetched idea before the draft. Stassi has bypassed college now and with a signing bonus that is the highest ever for a 4th round pick.

Bummer
Count me as one of those who was hoping against hope that his drop in the draft might’ve landed him in Westwood. Ahhh… such is the life of an amateur baseball fan. My disappointment is tempered by the fact that Savage is able to recruit such blue-chippers though. One of our past signees, Jason Heyward, is one of the highest rated prospects in the game and is on the fast track to Atlanta. GO BRUINS.
