Brehaut v. Craft: Battle For Number 2
So at least from the reports it sounds like Kevin Prince is doing everything he can solidify his status as the number 1 QB. Meanwhile there is a battle brewing between Brehaut:

And Craft:

For the number 2 spot behind Prince:
"I think we’ll wait until after Saturday (when the Bruins scrimmage) to see what happens, and see if we need to make a decision after that," Neuheisel said after Wednesday morning’s session. "The idea is to spend a couple more days finalizing the decision, and then Wednesday you go into full preparation for San Diego State. The decisions will have to be made at some point by then. Usually when you’re making those kinds of close decisions, both guys will play."
Craft has experience on his side.
Brehaut has had his nose buried in the Bruins’ playbook for months. And he’s the roommate of starting quarterback Kevin Prince.
"It’s really good because the competition (for the spot) only makes the playing field better," Brehaut said. "Because we’re out here competing and because nobody has a set spot, that makes us go hard every play, all day, every day."
Craft said, "Every day I come out and all I worry about is myself and what I need to do, my checks and my reads. The rest will take care of itself. I don’t decide who plays. The coaches decide who plays. All I can do is my best on the field and improve every day."
Yes, don't forget Nick Crissman and Ted Landers are on the team. However, observers such as Balderas who wrote the post above, are deducing that right now the battle is mostly between Brehaut and Craft based on the number of snaps these two are getting compared to Crissman and Landers.
My best case scenarios is we only have to use Craft in mop up duties this year allowing us to redshirt Brehaut. That will allow coaches to space out the QB depth chart even more giving us more potential at this position than anytime since the 80s. Let's see how it all plays out.
GO BRUINS.

I am torn as well.
I feel Craft deserves it for the time he has already put in. Not to mention he should be much more familiar with the playbook having lived it for a season last year.
But, I would also like Brehaut’s progression and improvement begin now. You make a good point about red-shirting him for a year, though.

I would save Breuhart’s redshirt

You never know, it could become a moot point
We’ve certainly seen injuries push us three deep before. I just hope everyone stays sharp and ready to step up if needed.
Or, maybe, for a change ....
Our QB stays healthy all season long and he #2 gets mop-up duty.
I’d really like to be able to redshirt Breuhart, too.

If ted landers
would change his name to Ned Flanders, I think we should start him immediately

Nestor,
when were the 80s? I’m not sure I became aware of the year until I was 3 (1990).
Brehaut should redshirt
If it really is a close battle for #2, the nod should go to Craft based on his experience and remaining year of eligibility. Crissman would then round out the #3 spot. As a redshirt freshman next year, Brehaut would either battle for the #1 (depending on how Prince does this year) or will be a solid #2. Either scenario is fine with me.
so if we redshirt Brehaut
do we redshirt Scroggins next year? Also, what to do about these talented walk-ons we have?
Just goes to show
We have an awful lot of QBs in our stable.

Imagine if
we still had Bethel-Thompson, Rashan, and Forcier…
