UCLA @ Tennessee Video Highlights
Bumped for those who missed the magic. GO BRUINS. -N
Relentlessly Positive. Is that what's different about this edition of Bruins Football? This game was frustrating for all of the little mistakes that extended Vol drives (just like last week) and questionable refereeing, like the offsides call during the Vols last series.
Despite these setbacks and operating in the din of Neyland Stadium, the Bruins never got down on themselves or complained. They just got back to work and came out with a fantastic road win. Reggie Carter summed it up (from the fishwrap):
"That was the first time since I have been at UCLA that we played in this kind of hostile environment and stayed together as a team," Carter said.
More after the jump.
The following highlights show the potential of our offense and our young QB. I'm really looking forward to when all the youngin's mature and the team starts to consistently click.
Our defense needs to clean up those 3rd-down penalties, but they have shown heart and toughness. Three more picks by the secondary, key stops by the line, and the goal line stand were incredible.
This is going to be an up and down season, but we all need to stay Relentlessly Positive. The key, folks, is the new culture in Westwood brought in by Mr. Passion Bucket himself, Coach Rick Neuheisel.
Go Bruins!

This is soooooo good
Some tidbits that stood out to me:
1. The Harkey catch picking up the rock right near his shoestring is pretty incredible athletic display for such a huge guy
2. ATV was just TOYing with Crompton in that pick. Just nasty.
3. Price was destroying their center. I think it was Cody Mullins. Just crushing him.
4. If I were Mrs. Neuheisel, I’d keep a close eye on Erin Andrews! She looks to be totally smitten by CRN. lol
Viney
Gotta give him some love on ATV’s pick. He basically blew up the stop and go with a great open field chuck. Crompton had to go to plan B and, well, plan Bs rarely work against ATV.

so i came over here and watching this cheered me up tons : )
William Doolittle at your service, a.k.a. will do.
Thanks for confirmation...
On the absolute horrendous officiating (first video showing the phantom offsides, giving UT another free play — and robbing Rahim of another pick). Actually, I think the adjective should be corrupt.
This Bruin win was a bit of payback for the corrupt 1965 game. It’s amazing that this 2009 game had a similar amount of extremely questionable calls by the SEC crew — crazy generous spots on 4th down plays, the safety, the offsides near the end, and illegal formation on the kicking team that Neuheisel was heard on TV complaining about to the ref.
…..
the background…
On Dec. 4, 1965
UCLA vs. Tennessee in Memphis.
Tennessee played fourth-ranked UCLA in Memphis at Liberty Bowl stadium.
The Bruins were led by future Heisman Trophy winner Gary Beban, running back Mel Farr, and coached by Memphis native Tommy Prothro.
Vols won a wild affair, 37-34. Coach Prothro, was uncharacteristically upset. He criticized a pass interference call, a phantom holding call on end Byron Nelson that nullified a key UCLA play, claimed that the clock had been wrongly stopped twice on Tennessee’s winning drive, and said that a dropped pass was a lateral and a fumble. He stated, “For the first time in my life, I am ashamed to be a Southerner.”
Easy money and faithless women, red-eye whiskey for the pain...

Thanks for the Vids Telemachus!
Awesome work as always, especially of the phantom offsides call as previously mentioned. Just wondering if anyone knows where I can download the complete game online, as our game versus Tennessee was last year.
Oh UCLA you sweet bitch, you've BRUINed me for anything else.

Videos
Thanks for posting the highlight videos. As I was on Interstate 5 for much of Saturday, I missed most of the game. But the video highlights were really great and much appreciated.
About the offsides...
In the replay, did the ref even give a number for who was off or in the neutral zone or w/e they claimed to see?
Nope
He just said “offsides…defense.” Well, that sure clears that one up!
All I can think now is that he meant someone lined up offsides. I have no idea. Seems like a BS call.
If you read CRN;s lips when talking to the ref
He says 56.

But #56
is Xavier Su’a-Filo who plays offense.
I’m confused. I didn’t see any movement whatsoever anyway by either team on that play.
56 is also Datone Jones who is lined up at right end

Ok, thanks
That makes more sense. I suppose he might have been over the line of scrimmage at the start of the play, but it’s very tough to tell from the clip.
I didn't need to read his lips for the illegal formation on the FG try though :-)
I could hear it loud and clear over the mic:
“HORSESH*T!! You gotta give a guy a warning!!”
LOL
Yep I also caught that one. And he was right it was.
Oh UCLA you sweet bitch, you've BRUINed me for anything else.
