Pat Forde's Thoughts on UCLA/KSU Being a Trap Game

Bumped. GO BRUINS. -N

UCLA (13) -- Last year the Bruins followed their upset of Tennessee with a 59-0 nuking from BYU. This year they're fortunate to host 1-1 Kansas State, which has scored offensive points in two of its eight quarters of play against mighty Massachusetts and Louisiana-Lafayette this season. (The exhuming of Bill Snyder is paying immediate dividends in Manhattan.) Still, the Bruins have been warned.

Clearly after such a program defining victory this past Saturday it is extremely important not to get ahead of ourselves, and avoid a letdown. This has all the makings of a trap game just waiting to happen. What with the injury to Prince, and the huge high that the Bruins have to be riding coming off of the victory at Rocky Top, it gets very easy to overlook an opponent like Kansas State.

A dominating win will most likely put UCLA in the top 25, and would really give us some nice momentum going into the bye week. However a loss would almost certainly throw a wrench into the progress being made this season. A simple solution to a letdown however is good coaching, which I'm positive that we're all in agreement that there is an abundance of in Westwood. So while we remain relentlessly positive, I believe that it is also imperative to stay cautiously optimistic.
