Bill Plashke's 3rd SC column in a week
and fourth since August. Not a word about UCLA. There is absolutely no way any bruin can in good conscience support the LA Times when their coverage is so clearly slanted towards USC. I would love a sports editor of the LA Times to come on here and explain why their coverage is either about how great USC is, or how terrible and irrelevant UCLA is. Do they really think insulting the large contingent of bruin faithful is the way to sell papers?
Boycott the Times until they start offering positive coverage of UCLA athletics. Cancel your subscriptions and tell them why you are canceling. Send letters to the sports editors. Go to the daily news for your UCLA coverage until the Times pulls its head out of its behind.
Go Bruins!

No one reads the LAT. Honestly, who cares? The BN gang does a way better job than those hacks. Stop worrying about it. We’re coming off as cry babies.

Actually we care about any discussion
that has a media angle wrt to UCLA sports.
Your comment reminds me the same kind of concern trolling (“cry baby” insult) we used to hear from other so called UCLA fans during Dorrell era.
Good post from silver.

During the 8 year win streak we got the bigger headlines.
We were constantly ranked highly, and just more likely to win the Pac 10 and make a push for the National Championship back then. But, they never wrote the man crush pieces they do now, and they always seemed to take particular delight when we lost one. Miami any one?
Like Impaulv says, you can’t let it get to you. We will just have to go out there and handle it on the field. After all, they can’t ignore the final score when it reads something like 13-9.

But he wrote that one article 8 years ago!
It’s amazing how USC fans continue to point to that Plaschke article about UCLA owning LA when UCLA was a top 5 team and USC had a losing record. For the last few years he has gone to every USC home game and only occasionally (as in maybe once a season) gone to a UCLA game that wasn’t against USC. Even Plaschke has acknowledged this in his own columns.

this is sports….you put more coverage in regards to the team that does better, and USC has a history recently of doing incredibly well. while more extreme…the clippers rarely get coverage… success brings respect and coverage. screw what the attention level is at right now. just win :)

I wrote BP
And he referenced his KP article on Aug 20th, 2009. It’s a decent article, but I had to use google to find it.
Just thought I’d mention it, but the count is still 3-1.

Silver is right
The next time there is any reference to the fishwrap in the BN should be when there is something critical (i.e., honest) about justsc.
I would settle for that instead of a total boycott. Just fairness. Until they start reporting on all the crap that goes on, we should leave them alone.
N, I disagree with you on this. I don’t care what the Conquest Cornickles reports about UCLA. I also don’t care what it’s mainstream counterpart reports. Just remember – every newspaper bought and every click on a ‘wrap website means that you’re paying Simers’ salary.
I know N disagrees, and as soon as I find 30 or 40 extra hours in a day to do all the work N does and make my own blog, I’ll enforce my preference. Until then, I’ll have to keep trying to persuade. Not to put too fine a point on this, I don’t have any intention of boycotting the BN because Nestor and I disagree on this point. I would boycott it if Nestor was as intellectually and morally dishonest as the ’wrap “journalists” which obviously is not the case.
