BN Gameday: Kansas State Pre Game Thread
One of those Saturdays when we have to wait all day till the kick off. In the meantime we have plenty of college football action to take in. I was planning to post this around noonish but might as go ahead since there are few games under way already. Some of the games I will be keeping track of (all times Pacific):
- Tennessee @ #1 Florida (12:30 pm CBS): Yeah, none of us are big fans of Lane Kiffin. However, I don't like Florida and after how Volunteers treated Bruins last week this is a no brainer. Go Vols.
- (#3) U$C* @ Washington (12:30 pm ABC): Speaking of Chetey Petey's coaching spawn, Pom Pom goes up against Sark today. Some have this one marked up as upset alert. I don't see it but if it stays close ...
- Michigan State @ Notre Dame (12:30 pm NBC): If the Irish are in trouble early in this game, this could be a total car wreck (could be interesting to watch)
- (#18) Utah @ Oregon (12:30 pm WWL): Will be interesting to see how Chip Kelly's Oregon handles Utah after a escaping with a win against mediocre Purdue last weekend at home
- Texas Tech @ (#2) Texas (5:00 pm ABC): Tech is in rebuilding mode but they still have Leach's passing attack (Taylor Potts is the leading the nation in passing throwing for 430.5 yards per game). Longhorns are going to be bloodthirsty for revenge. This could be fun to watch.
What games are you guys watching? Let's keep track of it in our pre game thread.
GO BRUINS.

all of the above
and SMU at Washington St. of course, actually we’ll only get that on radio : (, i’ll also have my eye on Doyers Giants
William Doolittle at your service, a.k.a. will do.
Wow
Cal looks good. Bedsides a few mental mistakes that are keeping Minnesota in the game, they look almost as fast as Florida at some positions. But their athletes are getting to look more and more like those at $C, no class and thuggish attitudes.
Some interesting games is the early slot.
Javid Best seems to me making himself right at home in Minnesota’s new digs – 114 yards rushing and 3 TD’s in the 1st half, helping Cal to a 21-14 halftime lead.
Eastern Michigan is holding on at the half, trailing UM 17-24 at the Big House. And UNC holds a 21-14 lead at home vs. Eastern Carolina.
Cincinnati at Oregon St.
IMO, the game of the week in the Pac 10. Both teams are looking for respect and the winner should get some.

It's The Jahvid Best Show Up Here In Minneapolis
That guy is amazing. But goofy Gophs are one of those floaters out there that can be dangerous and they’re only down by 7 to Cal.
Also getting ready to give a few cheers to my alma mater, Iowa, a little later on this afternoon as they take on Arizona at Kinnick Stadium.
I have a much more relaxed feeling about our game tonight. I know our guys have to be focused but if we do the job on “D” we should be okay, no matter who CRN and NC decide to put behind the center tonight.

I wish I was as relaxed as you. I’m just praying they come out of the gate ready to hit and continue for the entire game. This could either be another statement game and a big Win or a very close game and a toss up if we don’t come out with fire and our passion bucket full. KSU will try and set the tone early and they do have speed to the outside.

$288 million for TCF Bank Stadium
A drop in building costs, but increase for building in LA and it would probably cost $350 million or so here? Add in another $50 million because it would have to be bigger for us and I haven’t even considered the cost of land. Hmmmm, I don’t see us getting our own stadium anytime soon. Damn.

What the heck
is wrong with Cal? I really want them to dominate everybody this season, especially u$c*. They were supposed to be the team to stick it to the trojies this year, but they just do not look the part today. They pretty much suck.
They've really struggled on the road

The came out like gangbusters . . .
. . . but conservative play calling, sitting Best in the 2nd half, and some penalties (the P.I. that just occurred was an awful call) have really slowed the momentum. It is now a dogfight with the crowd smelling upset.

I’ll be watching Udub hoping they pull off the upset against South Central. I think they have a decent chance of pulling it off. I’ll also be watching Tenn v Florida hoping the Vols pull off the upset. Then it’s home from work, to watch the Bruins. Bruins game is televised, right? The Geezers may remember the Orange County Rhinos. For some reason, Oregon reminds me of those old Rhino uniforms.
The Ducks should be embarrassed.

They have the ball in field goal range on 3rd down and short with 20 seconds to go and run the ball. Problem is they had no timeouts left so when they came up short, they couldn’t get the field goal team out there.

ND 13 – Mich St 10, looked bad early but Mich St is clawing. Though looks like ND is about to score, and they just did.
Oregon hopefully pulling away from Utah, 21-7
Arizona 10 – Iowa 14, another close one.

True, but it's all impressions when it comes to national media respect
And a 28-10 win over the #18 team gives a good impression. If Masoli can run well, he’ll build up his confidence to be able to pass well, and force the defenses to respect the option run.

fun tebow + ucla story
Long story short, 2 years ago i was living with 3 UF undergrads and i came home one night to find Tebow studying chemistry in my living room. Pretty random but apparently he was in a class with one of them and they had a test the next day.
Anyways, there was a UCLA vs ASU basketball game on FSN, and since the tv in the living room was the only tv in the apartment, of course I put the game on in the living room, on mute to be nice.
After I’m quietly cheering on the couch for 5 minutes, Tebow asks me why the hell am i watching this game? I responded, look jackass if it isn’t for ucla, you don’t have that ring on your finger. He quickly realized his error and said, “oh yea that’s right I like ucla!” and that was that. He hung out for another hour and was way cooler than I had expected him to be.
by TheTJCummingsEra on Sep 19, 2009 2:50 PM PDT reply actions
I was chatting with BobTheBruin at the time
He wanted me to get tebow to take a pic wearing a ucla hat, but I wasn’t able to pull it off unfortunately.
