Stanford Game Time Set - Who's Going!?

From UCLA's official website: "UCLA's Pac-10 Conference opener at Stanford on October 3 will be televised by ABC on a regional basis. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 pm. It will be UCLA's first appearance of the year on ABC. The Bruins have already played on Fox Sports Net, ESPN and Fox Sports West." My family and I are heading up there and will be at the Bruin Bash before the game. Anyone else going? GO BRUINS!!!

I'm probably going

I need to make sure I don’t have work that day, but I don’t think I will. I won’t be at the Bruin Bash though because I’m probably going to drive up in the am and going to the Bruin Bash would require waking up at a ridiculous hour.

I'll shoot you an email

when we find out where we are sitting. Maybe we can meet at halftime or something.

Sounds good

I’m thinking I’ll be in general admission, but regardless, definitely halftime or something of the sort.

I'll be there

I’m supposed to be volunteering at the Bruin Bash, so I’ll get there early.

I'm there

I try to make it when they play Stanford every other year.

Bruin Bash???

I am a recent UCLA Grad (2008!!) living in SF for law school. I just got my tickets for the stanford game… can someone give me the details about Bruin Bash… where and what is bruin bash exactly?

by BdaElSavadoreanBruin on Sep 21, 2009 11:51 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

ME!

Bruin Bash is put on by the Bay Area Bruins, and is their major fundraiser of the year, along with food, fun, and a major event!

https://www.uclalumni.net/ClubsComm/Regional/BayArea/Calendar.cfm#TAILGATE

Unfortunately, my tickets are in General Admission, so I’ll be trying to sit as close to the Visitor section as possible, since one of the sides of the general admission borders the visitor section. (my tickets were free, I’m not complaining.)

by freesia39 on Sep 21, 2009 11:59 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

For anyone who is considering going to the game

There are $12 general admission tickets available and the general admission section borders the visitors section so you can sit by there and just extend the UCLA section.

Make a day of it. Go watch the Bruins play, find a bar to see the Cal/SC game and spend the night out and about San Francisco, which is a terrific city.

by Ryan Rosenblatt on Sep 21, 2009 12:10 PM PDT via mobile reply actions   0 recs

awesome

thanks for the info Rye. $12 = far more reasonable than the $60 Cal was trying to charge. Looks like Stanford isn’t trying to build a stadium with UCLA money!

also, I’ll probably be there.

Go Bruins!

Also

I believe the UCLA tickets are only $20 to be in that section. Great deals all around. GO BRUINS!!!

Don't forget Craigslist, etc for tickets

Even Stubhub has some good seats at non-complete ripoff prices for this game.

ill be going

should be a great game and a good measuring stick of where we really are in the pac-10. although i dont care much for these out-in-the-hot-sun noon time games, at least it gives us time to watch cal destroy usc. :)

Go Bruins!

I've never been there

Is Stanford’s stadium any good?

by captainqtp on Sep 21, 2009 4:25 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

They've remodeled it since the last time I went there

I used to go in high school quite a bit, when it was a big pit. Now it is supposed to be smaller and more intimate… still didn’t sell out last year with 50,000 seats.

by freesia39 on Sep 21, 2009 4:32 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

My last time was at

old stadium as well. Would like to see new place. Ok I’ll go too!

by GogetemBruins on Sep 21, 2009 9:11 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

It's very, very nice

Since they’ve remodeled it, they haven’t drawn well, but it’s still a nice place. 50,000 seats, all of which are close to the field, with a concourse that allows you to see the field from all over and all of the trees and greenery surrounding the stadium make for a great setting. The atmosphere there is lacking, but the stadium itself is the nicest of the 6 Pac-10 stadiums I’ve been to.

Nice stadium to watch a game at

For what was needed at Stanford it is very well done, and maybe if they continue to improve as a team, the atmosphere will improve. If UCLA is ever to consider an on or near campus football stadium, Stanford’s model should be looked at (although UCLA would need something about 10 to 15k larger capacity, and doesn’t have the space Stanford has).
The ‘not a bad seat in the house’ reference works here, completely opposite of the old stadium.

If UCLA built their own stadium

which may never happen and certainly won’t for a long time, it would have to be 70,000 seats at a minimum and probably would be 75,000-80,000.

Tailgating at Stanford

For those of you who plan on tailgating before the game and aren’t going to the Bruin Bash, I recommend parking in the IM South parking lot (where Churchill dead ends into El Camino). Parking is free, you can tailgate on the grassy field where you park and its an easy walk to the stadium.

by PaloAltoBruin on Sep 21, 2009 5:45 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I parked there 2 years ago

It’s free, nice, you can tailgate there and it’s quick in and out. I’d highly recommend it to anyone going.

by Ryan Rosenblatt on Sep 21, 2009 6:18 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'll be there

Stanford isn’t exactly known for supporting their football team in full force, so I hope everyone in the area can come out. Let’s make this a neutral site at worst!

by Sideout11 on Sep 21, 2009 6:02 PM PDT via mobile reply actions   0 recs

We were louder than the Stanford fans in 2007

And considering the excitement around the program, I’m expecting more fans and more noise this year.

by Ryan Rosenblatt on Sep 21, 2009 6:18 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sounds Good

I’ll be there too— in a home jersey! :)

Bathrooms

Is there more than one bathroom facility for all 40k people there who tailgate? The last time I went I had to walk about a mile to the one bathroom there which looked like it was built sometime in the 1920’s.

Oh UCLA you sweet bitch, you've BRUINed me for anything else.

Count me in +9!

5 of us driving from down here in SoCal, consisting of Classes 2007, 2009, and 2010, plus some Bay Area Buddies. It’ll be my third trip to Stanford. #1 crazy Halloween weekend 2005 for the huge rally, and beautiful Labor Day weekend 2007 with a resounding win. Let’s hope the same result occurs again!

Class of 2009

I’ll be going for sure, with a good group of 2009 graduates!! We re gonna sit in general admission since it’s only 12 dollars.

Last time I went to a game at his stadium was 2001, the game before foster’s suspension. I think he had something like 4 fumbles, a sure omen for what was to happen next. Hopefully things will turn out better in this game?…

Go Bruins!!!!

I'll be there

Probably taking Caltrain down to the stadium, so I don’t think I will arrive in time for much pre-game activity.

by bruinhoo on Sep 22, 2009 10:10 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I'll be there +3 Bruins

Will be sporting my ATV / Randall Carroll #1 Jersey.

Out of curiosity – Are there any other standout Bruins who wore #1?
