UCLA in Asia
So you know how you always hear that UCLA is big in Asia? Well, it is and not always in ways you'd expect... Thought I'd share a few random pics.
So I strolling through Tokyo on vacation & saw a sign. A UCLA sign. I naturally got very excited....
Well, some of you can already see what's wrong with the pic, but I didn't notice. I had visions of restocking my UCLA supplies. I was short a coffee mug a co-worker ran off with... My friend & I draw closer & closer...
Oh yeah, something's definitely not kosher..
Yeah, definitely not what I expected. I asked my Japanese friend about it. Apparently UCLA has a reputation for having great academics & beautiful women. Go figure :-)
Next in South Korea, nothing quite as racy...
Just, as my girlfriend put it, "really cute shoes!"
And that was my little weird slice of home half a world away.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Not cheap either, looks like the cover charge is $300-500 just to get in the door.

the yen isn't that strong
currently the Yen is holding at under 0.02 dollars. That means at most, it’ll cost you $53 or so.
Go Bruins!

Correct me if I am wrong
But I believe the “pub” is owned by a rather nefarious character out in Japan who is using our school name to promote his business because UCLA is a fashionable, super American, identifier. It is not legal, but the Trademarks and Licensing people don’t want to fight it because it is more trouble than it is worth. I could be wrong, but that is the way I remember the story.
As for the rest of it, you can find so much in the Asian market that is official UCLA, but not available here because it is treated as a Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger out there. The designs are much more fashion forward and the logo is very subtle.

For Japan...
UCLA got really popular with the japanese with the 76 Rose Bowl; we became a tourist attraction when I was @ UCLA.
For Korea, they may have family at UCLA. :)
