Bumped with video. This is a pretty significant get and could be a foreshadowing of recruiting momentum that is buzzing around UCLA's program. GO BRUINS. - N

According to, three star defensive end Derrick Bryant verbally committed to Coach Neu following his campus visit:

The 6-4, 230-pound defensive end prospecte from Columbus (Ohio) Brookhaven, Derrick Bryant, took his official visit to UCLA this weekend and gave Head Coach Rick Neuheisel a verbal commitment...

Derrick Bryant had offers from Michigan, West Virginia, North Carolina, Oregon, Kansas, and Kentucky.

Bryant looks to have amazing athletic ability.  At 6'4, 230, he will need to add some weight, but his listed 40 time is 4.55.  ESPN does not have him listed as a UCLA recruit, but this link has video (not insider).

Congrats and welcome to the Bruin community!  We look forward to watching you dominate on Saturdays!

UPDATE (N): Also from the ESPN link above:

Bryant is a prospect at the defensive end position with a good frame. Carries good bulk now and has the room to add more good size, once he gets into a college weight program. He looks to have a nice wingspan and does a good job of using his hands. In situations where he is being base blocked, he does a good job of using his reach to create some separation from the blocker and will try and stay in a good football position. Does a good job of being able to take on the block and hold his ground, but does need to work on being able to shed more quickly. He has an adequate get-off and you would like to see him help himself more by getting off the ball a little quicker. Displays solid speed, but seems like he is still growing into his frame when you see him run. Gives good effort in backside pursuit, but needs to improve the angles he takes. Tends to quickly turn and run on action away and could be susceptible to reverses and bootlegs and the read-option attack. Gets around the ball, but can be sloppy as a tackler and miss some plays he should make. Tends to arm tackle and attack ball carriers high, with some improvements to his tackling technique should be able to finish better. Displays some good upside as a pass-rusher. Will try and attack the outside shoulder and use his hands to swat the blocker's arms down. With his reach and some development of pass-rushing mo

UCLA was in the mix with schools such as Michigan, Illinois, and Michigan State (Per WWL). This is a pretty significant get. We can never have enough of speedy DEs in Westwood. GO BRUINS.
