Player calls pete for coaching opportunity, Pete says he will call him in two weeks, but never calls back.

USC football: Kenechi Udeze says 'Purple is the color of loyalty'

Udeze, who retired from the NFL after a bout with leukemia, joined Washington's program as an assistant strength and conditioning coach, a position made available to him by Husky Coach Steve Sarkisian.

"Purple is the color of loyalty," Udeze said before the game.

That statement came as a bit of a shock from a player who starred for USC and helped lead the Trojans to the Associated Press national title in 2003.

But Udeze said he contacted Trojans Coach Pete Carroll in July with interest in finding a position in USC’s program.

"He said ‘Give me two weeks,’" Udeze said. "I still haven’t heard from him.

Wow!

Yet another great story that needs to be broadcast (but probably won’t) nationally. We’ll just leave it to our recruiters to do the broadcasting of this particular story.

A coach is someone who can give correction without causing resentment. John Wooden

These comments are hard to believe.
Traitor! :) FIGHT ON, USC!

Not bitter???? Than why say anything at all? Show some class Udeze, just keep your mouth shut!

OK, maybe not that hard to believe. ;)

Wow...that's surprising...even for Carroll

Udeze was diagnosed w/ leukemia while a player, needed a bone marrow transplant, and battled for a year to get his strength back. He’s one of the few Trojans that I actually have tremendous respect for. I understand that there isn’t always a full time job available, but you’d think Carroll would at least to invite him back to be a motivational speaker or something. To not even call him back is incredibly disrespectful. Carroll was too busy sexting Kirk Herbstreit, I suppose.

Ok...I made the cardinal sin of commenting before reading the entire article

While Carroll did make a mistake, he did at least own up to it:

“I feel bad that I lost track of the timing in there to get him in school here on time — I just blew it," Carroll said. "I would love to have had an opportunity for him.

"I would love for him to be here, but I just lost track of what I needed to do to get it done."

Hopefully he has called Udeze since then to express these feelings personally.

he "owned up to it"

after the media asked him about it and advised him of Udeze’s comments. Udeze said he still hadn’t heard from PC.

Its like PC does with NCAA violations- they never self report, but when they caught, they say they are sorry and take care of internally.

I remember reading that Udeze had gone up to coach at UW

I didn’t know he tried to get a job with SC first. I don’t think it’s a major deal though so long as Carroll called Udeze himself to apologize and made it clear that he’s always welcome around the program. This is one of the stories I’d like more information on before coming to a definite conclusion.

Looking at Udeze's comments on game day of week 3 of the season

Pete Carroll had still not contacted him, and only “apologized” to the media after the media called him on it.

This is also the LAT we're talking about here

I don’t quite trust them to tell the story like it is. I’m not saying that didn’t happen, but I’d like t hear it from somewhere else.

Looks like both the Huskies and Udeze got the better deal

After witnessing the week 3 trashing of the Trojans, It appears Udeze ended up with the better team and the better coaching staff.

Who's the bigger liar? Cheatie Petie or the fishwrap?

While you’re pondering that, ask yourself another question. Is it in Cheatie Petie’s nature to screw over someone else? (Ask Sanchez.) Is it in his nature to put his own wants and desires ahead of those of someone else? (Ask Sanchez again.) Last question: Did Cheatie Petie write his apology, or did his legal department write it. “As to Udeze’s call, I do not recall, recollect or remember it, at this time.”

Like most all of the apologize which trickle out of Inheritance Hall, this is another apology for getting caught. And with the fishwrap shilling for him, Cheatie probably kicked the guy in the face as he was asking for help, and all we here is “I lost track of the guy.”
