Watch out Chuck Norris, Howland is here.
Nothing will keep this guy down.....
Here is a link from ESPN about how nothing can stop CBH from doing his job as Caretaker of John Wooden's program. We are lucky to have this man leading out storied basketball program.
From ESPN:
"Ben Howland's right side had been bothering him for about a week. But it wasn't pressing enough to keep him from traveling during a recruiting period.
So, the UCLA men's basketball coach plugged on and flew to Portland and Detroit before coming back on Sept. 13, when he realized the ache was now a pain that wasn't going away."
Thank God for Ben Howland.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Nice
Thanks for blogging this. I was about to post this. Also some interesting updates on TH’s health and Howland’s thoughts on playing with 3 guards in our roster.
This Season
I think it’ll be good for the current program to have lesser expectation than its predecessors. Though Bruins fans still expect the team to make it to the NCAAs, the expectation is not as high.
These kids, the core, have to grow together (of course barring an enexpected Jrue type bolt), then the program will be expected to go all the way.
Personally, I would be happy if we win a few postseason games; if we get eliminated early, I’ll chalk it up to the inexperience of a young team.
The only thing I expect of our teams
is to play with their hearts on their sleeves. Play tough, hard nosed defense and smart, efficient offense. Does not matter the sport. That’s all I ask.
You can imagine how disappointed I felt watching Lavin’s teams regularly get out muscled on rebounds. Howland’s first game as coach and I could already see the difference in mentality from our team and I knew we were going to be alright.
A coach is someone who can give correction without causing resentment. John Wooden
One of the many admirable things about Wooden
was that he understood you could win a game and have a lower score on the board. If you give it everything you got, then you have no reason to hang your head at the end of the day. You don’t have to outscore everybody to be a winner. If this team consistently gets better, grows, never gives up, gameplans as a team, and shows the heart and effort we expect out of them, then they won’t lose in my eyes. (and will likely outscore a few people along the way, which is still pretty fun)
The same goes for the football team. Even though last year was one of the worst W-L records in quite a few years, it was so much easier and more fun to watch than the poorly coached, lazy teams of the years prior to Neuheisel.
I heard CBH went to the running of the bulls in Pamplona this summer.
However, he was disappointed that he only caught three.

BAHAHAHAHA
I was waiting for one of these, something along the lines of “Coach Howland would have helped the dinosaurs survive, he would have taught them how to defend themselves.”

Thank you! I’ll be here all week!
When Ben Howland has his appendectomy
anesthesia was needed for the doctors.
greg in denver - UCLA guy for life
His appendix, I heard,
fought hard – great defense.
Finally, coach had to tell the appen. to relent ’cause the doctors were part of the team.
Ben Howland got a paper cut once.
He nicked his thumb on an axe as he was chopping down the tree to make the paper.

Ben Howland fell into an active volcano during a recruiting trip to Hawaii.
He almost drowned.

Ben Howland went to a Burger King and asked for a Big Mac.
They made him one.

Every time his FICO goes below 800,
the three major reporting agencies write a letter of apology for their mistake.
The next business day his FICO is once again 800, where it belongs.
Howland is inelligible for jury duty
because every time he hears the phrase “the defense rests,” he makes everyone in the courtroom run wind sprints
Very good, LV
I hope Coach Howland reads these. It might cheer him up a little. Nestor (or maybe Rye), can you get these too him?
