Dribble For The Cure II Set for Nov. 1, 2009
From our official site:
'Dribble For The Cure II' will take place Sunday, Nov. 1 at historic Pauley Pavilion. Once again Ben Howland's UCLA men's basketball team and the Bruin Athletic Department have joined forces with UCLA basketball alumnus John Vallely, the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF) and Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA for the second annual fund-raising event.
Proceeds will be directed to finding a cure for pediatric cancer and supporting the treatment for children with cancer at the Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA. At last year's inaugural 'Dribble For The Cure', more than 500 participants dribbled a basketball across the Bruin campus, raising $75,000 to help find the cure for pediatric cancer.
The event will start and end at Pauley Pavilion, where activities, autographs, booths and entertainment will be featured. Participants will have the opportunity to meet the UCLA men's basketball squad, along with student-athletes from other Bruin athletic teams. Each participant is asked to bring their own basketball and 'Dribble For The Cure' on a course through the UCLA campus.
Team (a minimum of 10) and individual participants will be asked to collect pledges for their 'Dribble' and will become eligible for prizes based on pledge amounts turned in the day of the event. Each participant will also receive an official 'Dribble For The Cure' t-shirt.
Of course BNers should know this year there will be a BN team for Tyler at this event. You can get the details on that from UCLABruin920's post here.
As always, it will be awesome if you can blog about it here (allowing rest of us to be with you in spirit).
GO BRUINS.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

This looks like a good spot for a Tyler update
I thought you’d like to know that this has been a wonderful week for Tyler. The turnaround from 10 days or so ago (in ICU with grade IV graft vs host disease, eyes swollen shut, on oxygen, with 12 IVs going) to today (back on the regular floor, down to six IVs, walking around, and joking with the nurses) has just been amazing. All of his blood counts are great, his kidney and liver function looks good, and things are back on track the way his doctors would like. Now, Tyler’s biggest battle is boredom. Let’s hope it stays that way for the next few weeks.
Oh, and also, Tyler was doing his job to provide a little Karma over the weekend-wearing a Huskies jersey during the day Saturday and switching to a Bruins jersey at night.
Thank you again everyone for all of your thoughts, prayers, and your donations. It has all been so inspiring and uplifting. I hope to have a chance to thank some of you in person at the Dribble for the Cure event in November.
And of course, if you can’t make it, but would like to contribute, you’re still more than welcome to contribute to Tyler’s Dribble for the Cure page.

Glad to hear it
Having just had a son myself, it was hard enough for me when he had to get an IV for antibiotics, and jaundice treatment, and even a diaper rash. I can’t even image what it’s like for you going through this. Truly, Tyler is one of the guttiest little Bruins I’ve seen.

So happy for you!
That is great news! Every day now will bring him closer to going home. Give him a big hug from a mom who knows how strong a young man can be.

We need him back
Who’ll dance with the cheerleaders if he can’t get out on the floor at Pauley?
Good luck, little guy. We’re all pulling for you.
