Staphon Johnson has Emergency Surgery
"USC Trojans running back Stafon Johnson injured his throat in a weightlifting accident Monday and required emergency surgery.
Johnson was bench pressing when the bar slipped from his hand and fell on his throat, according to a release from the school."
Wow - hope he is ok. Never like to see someone get hurt.

I saw the news during MNF
from the brief description it sounds horrific.
I wish Stafon all the best in the world. I hope his surgery goes well and he recovers completely. Get better Stafon!

YUP
I read it in the Times this evening, WOW… how scary can that be to be lifting and then to drop the bar on your throat. I agree with Barnes… No matter how much we dislike SC or Cheaty Peaty, I would not wish this on any one. Think it could have just as easily been one of our guys… Thoughts & prayers to Stafon and his family… God Bless

Get well soon Stafon!
Scary accident. The report said he had a spotter but he still got hurt.
I pray that he will be back to 100% soon.

You have to wonder where was the spotter...

Yes, I thought the same thing
I played basketball in high school and we always had to have a spotter for bench pressing and our weight amounts were nowhere near the amounts these guys press. I know accidents can happen, but I hope there was a spotter right there, even though he must feel awful right now.

There was a spotter there
You can’t catch the thing falling on the way down. It’s really tough, especially when just one hand comes off of the bar so it’s coming down at an angle. The spotter was able to get the bar off his throat though and prevented what could have been a much worse scenario.
