Moore, Franklin Rush To The Hospital To Support (Dorsey High Team-mate) Stafon
From the LA Times:
UCLA's Rahim Moore and Johnathan Franklin went to California Hospital Medical Center on Monday after learning that USC tailback Stafon Johnson had been injured in a weight-room accident.
The three were teammates at Los Angeles Dorsey High, where Johnson was two years ahead of Moore and Franklin.
"Rahim and I had to show our support for a brother, you can say a family member," said Franklin, a redshirt freshman running back. "This is a guy I grew up with, a guy I played behind in high school, a guy I learned from, as a running back and a person."
Johnson was injured when a bar with 275 pounds slipped from his hands and landed on his throat, doctors were told. He underwent seven hours of surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.
Moore and Franklin got to the hospital while Johnson was in surgery.
"I talked with his mom and I've been praying for him all day," said Moore, a sophomore safety. "I couldn't sleep last night from tossing and turning. I was mad it happened. I know how much he loves football."Moore said Johnson "helped me so much about how to play football and how to go about things in life. I had to jump up and go see him as soon as I heard."
Again puts everything in perspective.
GO BRUINS.

Class
The word “class” is used an awful lot around here in relation to CBH’s recruits and players, and with very good reason. This horrible situation and Moore and Franklin’s reaction to it are yet further signs of the same trait shining through in CRN’s charges too, and I’m bloody delighted. “Slick” Rick my arse…
Bravo!
This sort of incident really does put things in perspective in terms of our rivalry and what are the truly important things in life.
A coach is someone who can give correction without causing resentment. John Wooden
So impressed
this is the second story I have read showing how amazingly mature and classy Rahim and Jet Ski are. These guys have character and are the kind of player UCLA deserves. Gifted on the field, in the classroom, and in integrity.
Best wishes to Stafon, just terrible what happened. He’s lucky to be alive. Someone upstairs was looking out. I hope he has a full recovery and no lasting problems with speaking, eating, drinking, or especially breathing. Scary scary stuff.
Echo what has been said here but there’s nothing mature or classy about this. Not saying that Rahim & Franklin aren’t those things (they are), but I doubt they had in mind how their actions would be perceived. They heard one of their friends had been hurt badly and rushed to his side. They didn’t care he played for a rival school. To me, that kind of loyalty is way more important and encompasses all of what you said & then some.

I agree
They are not looking for notoriety. This is not publicity. this is personal integrity, and honest concern. That is why it is so wonderful and why these guys are gaining more and more of my respect.
Makes me proud
CBH and CRN have done a wonderful job in bringing in kids that have integrity and represent themselves and UCLA well.
Hopefully Stafon makes a full recovery and gets to live his dream.
I'm proud of our guys
They sound like solid citizens, and I’m glad they’re Bruins.
(Isn’t there generally someone standing by to prevent things like this from happening? If so, then that kid needs some support, too. I’m sure he feels horrible. There just isn’t much to say, I guess.)
