Blount suspended for the rest of the season
It is good to see that Oregon took the appropriate action. A lot of other universities may have gone lighter, especially with one of their star players.

just saw this
personally i would’ve suspended him half the season, but i can’t fault Oregon for doing this. Too bad for Blount, but he’s got to learn to control himself

Other Actions
I think if it had just been the single punch (as bad as that is) he would have only been gone a few games. But punching his own teamate and getting into it with the crowd sealed his fate.
As a Boise based Bruin fan I was a little disappointed to see that Coach Petersen isn’t suspending Hout. I thought he deserved a single game suspension for instigating everything.

Well we know one thing now
Chip Kelly is no Pete Carroll.
Big ups to him. He has my respect.

I believe this is a satisfactory result
You can’t say that UO took this incident lightly.

Awesome
Good job Oregon. They did exactly the right thing. As far as Hout, if they suspended players everytime they talk trash to each other, we wouldn’t get to see much football. Make him run a few extra laps or do extra push ups or something, but that’s about all he deserves, I think.

Impression of OU
My first reaction after seeing this was that the HC of OU does not have control of his team. They appeared undisciplined a bit during the game and the incident after the game reinforced my feelings. This may not be the last incident with the team if my hunch is correct. He has had all Spring practice and fall camp, and they looked a bit squirrely……

I must say
Oregon just jumped up in my book of classy establishments. It takes a lot of integrity to suspend one of your keystone players for the whole season. u$c* would have had him sit out half of one practice, or less. Their reputation may still be slightly marred thanks to Blount, but this definitely will help their public perception.

And BSU is going down a few notches in my book...
…… for not publicly hitting Hout with a one-game suspension.
So, let me get this straight — you goad an opposing player into a fight, even going so far as to shove him after the game while standing right in front of your head coach, and you DON’T get busted other than a few more laps at practice?
Low-risk, high-reward — just be an *ss hat and see if you can bait the other guy after a game.
CRN is looking better than Petersen all the time…
