Consider this a placeholder for the report
If any of the other frontpagers want to write something more substantive on the news, feel free to bypass this.

Interesting tidbit from one of Wolf's commenters
Unfortunately most fans do not realize this is the football program’s darkest hour.
What is coming down the NCAA pipeline will make the new coaching vacancy a hard sell.
I was reminded today that USC was under probation from academic fraud stemming from 2001. Therefore, the Bush situation took place within those 5 years of probation.
I don’t know whether or not that last paragraph is true, but if it is (ie. USC being under NCAA probation during the Bush era), SC may end up even worse off than I thought.

Please be true
This could only get better…

2001 details
Two years’ probation.
The University of Southern California will begin two years of probation today and will have scholarships in football and women’s swimming and diving reduced as the result of findings by the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions. The findings are academic fraud, providing false and misleading information, and a lack of institutional monitoring.
However…
As required by NCAA legislation for any institution involved in a major infractions case, Southern California is subject to the NCAA’s repeat-violator provisions for a five-year period beginning on the effective date of the penalties in this case, August 23, 2001.(emphasis mine)

I know that many will kick their heels and sing, "Ding Dong the Witch is dead."
But, I feel cheated. We will miss the opportunity to rub Cheat’s nose in it now that he doesn’t have a silent administration willing to overlook all the corners they cut to get the dubious success they achieved.
What a dick. And apparently, I’m not the only one: this one surprised me by one of Wulf’s commenters:

Bye Pete good riddance. Do be surprised if the scum bag resurfaces like nick saban did once he lays an egg in the NFL. Let’s see how competition tues and will farrell appearances go over with millionaires.

When the going get tough...
lying, despicable, narcissistic pigs like Pete Carroll and his sycophants jump ship…like rats fleeing a sinking boat.
BTW Pete...
Are you going to keep your Malibu house and grad student mistress?
Watching "Keeping up with the Kardashians"
and Bruce Jenner says to the son of Robert Kardashian (his step-son) “what are you doing laying around all day watching reruns on tv? You are a u$c graduate!” LOL

Good zinger, 11, but oh, at what a price.
You actually voluntarily watched that alleged show? I can think of nothing short of a just$c* tailback’s salary that would make me watch that show. It would take at least a quarterback’s salary to make me admit that I watched it.
I understand that Keeping Up With the Kardashians and other similar shows may not be shown in prisons because of the prohibition on cruel or unusual punisment.
I know, I know
I thought of that when I posted it. Somehow it sucks me in! I know, terrible!

was watching Conn-GT on ESPN
And Dickie V was going off on Carroll. Said he was running to the beat the posse, and that it was to escape NCAA sanctions. He said its unfair that people get to do this stuff and don’t suffer any consequences…
I am waiting for him to say that about Calapari, but that was a good start.

Meanwhile over at conquest chronicles
“Something failed in PC when he was betrayed by Mark Sanchez. That marked the beginning of the end. Even though there was hope at Ohio State, losing to first year coach Sark and then getting owned by first year coach Chip Kelly, followed by an historic loss to Stanford at home at the hands of a complete clown, and finally Arizona, all of these meant the run was truly and irrevocably over. His running away like this makes his "win forever" slogan just that, a slogan.”
Umm BETRAYED by Sanchez? LOL! Also, all the posts so far are calling for Garretts head. They don’t seem to like him very much.

I've been banned from posting there
Something about my allegations about a runner on their basketball team….
Ha ha
I never signed up, but I just decided to read their views on the Carroll situation. If I posted my feelings there, I’m sure I’d be banned too. :)

Being a trOJie requires, among other things, a total inability to see the obvious
They like Cheatie. He’s venerated. I generally stay away from hyperbolic hyperbole, but they really remind me of the thousands of the Germans and Hitler. I suppose the odds favor there being at least one trOJie who thinks Cheatie did in fact cheat, and thinks that it’s wrong to cheat even if you win. I have yet to meet one or to hear one or especially to read one such person’s writing in the Conquest Comicals. And they wonder why the rest of the world considers just$c a joke.
Let us never countenance what he did here
We are having a ball taunting this ethically challenged coach with a mediocre pro record as he flees L.A. as the NCAA sweeps in—as we should.
But never let us stand for this kind of unrelenting malfeasance here at UCLA—our athletic program stands for real things and real people—Jackie Robinson, everything John Wooden, Lewis Alcindor now Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Gary Beban, Tyus Edney going coast to coast in 1995, John Barnes to J.J., 13-9, Ducky Drake, Al Scates, our gymnasts, Ann Myers’s indefatigable hustle and her brother’s unrelenting intensity, and the 1960 Rafer Johnson-C.K. Yang 1-2 Bruin sweep of the Olympic decathlon.
So let’s laugh it up as he slinks towards Seattle but always demand the best from UCLA athletics and more importantly from our dear beloved school.
Go Bruins!
Oh, 1 other thing
