Another Dumb Freakout: Rosario Hasn't Tweeted About Norm Chow

Just a little while ago Rosario tweeted this:

Gotta add another nxgga 2 da fake list..... smh.....wass up wit LA.... can't trust any1 mane..... thts why I stay t0 and by myself....

Immediately there was a freakout on messageboards (and knee jerk morons) who thought he was talking about Chow. We pointed that freakout to the UCLA folks who now are pointing us out to latest NR tweet:

No tht tweet about fake ppl in LA .....wasn't about coach chow... soo let it gooo

F8king calm down people. Relax.

Let it goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

GO BRUINS.

Twitter

is the final nail in the coffin of proper grammer. I’m 20 years old and more than familiar with text speak, but it took me a good 5 minutes to decipher his first tweet. Geez

Unbelievable

you guys are Bruins, I can’t believe you fall for every little friggin’ rumor that’s out there, loyally running after the bone planted by U$C shills (though not in this case).

You are all falling for the trOJies’ tricks and need to fucking stop.

But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

TY

Whether Chow goes or not, it is not the end of the world. Bruin Football was successful before Chow and will be successful even without him.

I am starting to enjoy this

It reeks of desperation from Trojies (whether they get Chow or not).

Everyone is doing a great job over here keeping perspective and fighting back with fanshots/posts etc. Let’s keep it going.

lol

This is ridiculous! Everyone needs to stop panicking!

by LoveMyBruins on Jan 13, 2010 2:36 PM PST reply actions

How can so many fans get so worked up about a "tweet"

and yet not actually make it to the Rose Bowl to see the team play?

How can translate this negative energy and pessimism into a positive? What about a season ticket pledge drive? Or fund raising for Pauley?

Have some faith!

I was at school all day and just got home

i’m flooded by all the info, i see the rumors then posts claiming the rumor is false.

Nobody has asked this yet...

Who is he talking about? Anybody related to football?

by longbordr52 on Jan 13, 2010 2:39 PM PST reply actions

I don't care

His tweeter is private so not anyone’s business really. I only posted this b/c it was pertinent to Chow freakout.

by Nestor on Jan 13, 2010 2:40 PM PST up reply actions

the problem with twitter is...

It’s not private. It is very public, which is the reason stuff like this and the Randall’s Carroll’s debacle happen.

by b d on Jan 13, 2010 2:59 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

I'm guessing Chow is gone...

I’m not seeing unequivocal denials by Chow, his agent, and/or UCLA. Usually the non-denial denials mean that they’re just working out the terms. I only want him if he wants to stay. If he doesn’t, it’s better he goes. But it does annoy me that SC’s instability if affecting us.

by waters96 on Jan 13, 2010 2:46 PM PST reply actions

gotta hand it to those pricks at Heritage Hall

They really know how to stir up a controversy and piss off the rest of the country, even if only to distract the media away from their own problems.

And I agree. If Chow doesn’t really want to be here, then go. If he does want to make westwood home for the finale of his career, then great! We’ll all take it in stride and keep pushing our way back to the top.

by longbordr52 on Jan 13, 2010 2:49 PM PST up reply actions

Don't jump the gun

Until somebody says something official, he’s not gone. We know $C hasn’t contacted him officially, so they aren’t officially negotiating a contract. Leave the speculation to the hack journalists looking for a scoop.

by Captain Leebeard on Jan 13, 2010 2:50 PM PST up reply actions

The thing I find funny is that

there is no way Lame Kitten will let Chow make the calls for all of next season. Of course he’ll promise he will, but his ego will take over after he makes up rumors about Chip Kelly, CRN, Harbaugh and the other decent Pac-10 coaches. I hope CNC can see this and is taking it under consideration when making his decision.

by longbordr52 on Jan 13, 2010 2:51 PM PST up reply actions

And I'M guessing CRN holds a press conference to announce that NC signed a 3-year extension and will retire in Blue and Gold.

JUST A GUESS, PEOPLE.

Have faith!

If we panic over this situation, then we let the Trojan-ists win.

Remember that.

This is a time for laughs not angst over sc

Nestor—you so right.

I’m amazed at the frenzy resulting from a silly rumor by a knucklehead journalist. I thought the dominate reaction (by a narrow 51%-49% margin) here was we will deal with it regardless of what Coach Chow does. And we will.

Pat Forde said at ESPN this afternoon, “Paris Hilton has paid her dues more than Lane Kiffin has.” (And forgive if this was already posted.) This a time for laughter vis. a vis. sc. He is their problem, not ours.

And its time for concern our brothers and sisters in Haiti (and they are our brothers and sister).

by peggysue69 on Jan 13, 2010 2:58 PM PST via mobile reply actions

The news cycle is almost complete

The coaching change news cycle has the following steps:

1. Breaking News – A rumor is reported as about to happen from a reputable news organization
2. The Reaction – Rabid reaction to the rumor and it’s proving out in talk radio and blogs
3. The Real Story – A direct response from the parties involved either quashing the rumor or confirming it.
4. The Implications – The subsequent proving out of rumors discussed in the reaction phase.

In the case of Lane Kiffin we got from step 1 to step 4 in 2 hours.

In the case of Norm Chow, SC wants it to stay in step 2 where they can get the most mileage. UCLA is trying to establish step 3; it isn’t true.

When Chow speaks publicly it’ll finally be over.

by alcor805 on Jan 13, 2010 3:08 PM PST reply actions

I'd argue

UCLA has turned step 2 into a stalemate. It looks like a battle, our recruits are holding firm with or without Chow and we are going to be in good shape no matter what.

Really good observations in last 24 hrs alcor.

Thank you

I’m used to working with hysterical salespeople and false rumors. It’s not hard to picture the truth based on who’s telling the stories.

The tactics being employed here go beyond just SC-UCLA. The Tennessee angle is being played up so that the story becomes of national interest. This whole shebang is more a case of ESPN Los Angeles trying to flex it’s muscle for the first time. I’m more concerned about that.

by alcor805 on Jan 13, 2010 3:19 PM PST up reply actions

Yep

This is the classic SPLASH HIRE aimed to get the maximum PR effect. It would have been effective in the old days when there were no UCLA blogs/online communities to set the counter narrative with facts.

by Nestor on Jan 13, 2010 3:23 PM PST up reply actions

I'm starting to believe that CRN and DG...

… are about to go all Michael Corleone and Tom Hagen at the end of original “Godfather” on Garrett and those guys.

Let’s take care of all Family Business today, folks.

by Meriones on Jan 13, 2010 3:22 PM PST reply actions

Or....

And this is my honest hope. The hype will draw someone out of the woodwork for UCLA and their agent will call Coach Neu and give them an option where everyone is happy. In my fantasy it’s Homer Smith but I know he’s had some health issues in the last couple years.

by alcor805 on Jan 13, 2010 3:29 PM PST up reply actions

Neuheisel

is Michael Corleone. It’s going to spectacular, whatever happens tonight. I refuse to believe anything else.

by Captain Leebeard on Jan 13, 2010 4:14 PM PST up reply actions

Neuheisel = Michael Corleone ("We got newspapermen on the payroll... they might like a story like that.")

Dan Guerrero = Tom Hagen (“Who do you want me to give this job to?”)

Norm Chow = Pete Clemenza (“You need something like this every 5, 10 years. Helps get rid of all the bad blood.”)

DeWayne Walker = Santino Corleone (“This is business, and this man is taking it very personal.” Gone by the third act.)

Nikola Dragovic = Fredo Corleone (“I’m SMAAHHT! Not dumb, like everyone says!”)

Mike Garrett = Don Barzini (“After all, we’re not Communists.”)

Lane Kiffin = Bruno Tattaglia (“Tattaglia’s a pimp… he never could have outfought Santino”)

Ed Orgeron = Moe Greene (“I made my bones while you were out dating cheerleaders!”)
