Two jobs diverged at a Rocky Top,
And sorry I could not have them both
And be head coach, long I stood
And hung out at one as long as I could
Until they rioted, my ass would roast;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was cushy and they wanted me there;
Though coaching opposite the bear,
With violations about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
And somehow I just had to go back.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how violations were on the way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two jobs diverged at Rocky Top, and I-
I took the one where they often lie,
And that has made all the difference.
