UCLA Men's VBall Stuns CSUN with Straight-Sets Win
Bumped. A fantastic Saturday for UCLA athletics. GO BRUINS. -N
(From Wednesday's game v UCSB: RS sophomore Jack Polales (standing). (L-R) Junior Tom Hastings, senior Garrett Muagututia, RS sophomore Jeremy Casebeer)
It's been an exciting Saturday but I'd like to think the winning streak this weekend started with the Men's Volleyball team on Friday night as they swept the #2 Matadors in Northridge in straight sets, 30-21, 30-24, 30-21. I couldn't be there but I was shocked when I checked in with Gametracker shortly after the game ended. Read about the game on the official site here.
The Bruins out-played the Matadors in every facet of the game - services aces (eight!), kills, blocks and digs. It sounds like this team is finally coming together.
With this key win under their belt, the 3-4 (2-2) Bruins will host BYU for a weekend series on Friday the 29th and Saturday the 30th at Pauley. First serve on both days will be at 7 pm. Go Bruins!

Islander - what was the key reason behind this?
Did we get some key player back? Do you have any thoughts on our real slow start this season? Would love to hear your takes and thanks for keeping us up to date. Really appreciate it.
I wish I knew exactly
but I’m sorry to say I only started following college volleyball recently so I can’t say for sure. From looking at the stats and rosters the past two years, it looks like Dylan Bowermaster, who was such a key player in both of these games, was sidelined for the past two years. Tom Hastings, the libero (the position that is supposed to be the best and key defender of the team), was also injured in the middle of last year. So there are a couple of guys this year who hadn’t played for a while before this winter, so maybe it took some time for the team to gel. I hope this is the case. One test will be this weekend against #4 BYU. UCLA is ranked #6!
